PMS 313 C is part of the Pantone PMS (Pantone Matching System) collection, widely used to standardize brand, marketing, and industrial design colors. This color presents a clean, bold, technical, and modern vibe, making it suitable for attention-grabbing branding elements, signage, and environmental graphics.

PMS 313 C has a dark, saturated appearance with a specified LRV of 20.14, indicating low light reflectance. The color appears distinctly cool, with a blue hue and no visible warmth. PMS 313 C demonstrates high saturation and chromatic intensity. The blue undertone is pronounced, and there is no evident green or purple shift under typical lighting. This color’s visual impact can be affected by finish selection; gloss finishes can amplify vibrancy, while matte finishes may reduce perceived brightness.

PMS 313 C works well for brand-facing displays, point-of-sale environments, and prototype applications where a strong, recognizable blue is required. For optimal results, evaluate this color in intended lighting and on the actual substrate, as both finish and lighting conditions can impact perceived hue and intensity. As with similar vivid blues, coverage may require additional coats, especially over white or highly contrasting base colors. PMS 313 C may show more shift in appearance between gloss and matte than less saturated blues.

Similar colors:
PMS 312 C – Similar in hue but lighter and less saturated, resulting in a less intense appearance.

PMS 314 C – Slightly darker and exhibits a deeper, more subdued blue tone than PMS 313 C.

PMS 299 C – Lighter and noticeably more vibrant, with a touch more cyan influence than PMS 313 C.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 313 C

How can I use Pantone PMS 313 C for prototyping and concept models to ensure accurate brand color alignment?

When using PMS 313 C for prototypes or concept models, select a paint format that fits your prototyping process such as spray paint or paint pens. For best visual alignment with brand standards, evaluate your samples in the planned lighting conditions and on the intended substrate since finish and material can affect perceived color. Multiple formats are available to help you compare surface results, and it is important to confirm appearance before moving to final production. Always reference PMS 313 C in communication to avoid confusion with other blues.

What steps should I take to achieve even coverage with the saturated blue of PMS 313 C?

PMS 313 C is a highly saturated blue and may require multiple coats for uniform coverage, especially over white or contrasting base colors. To achieve consistent and visually solid results, consider using a mid-tone or blue-tinted undercoat if coverage is uneven after your first coat. Always allow sufficient drying time between coats and review the color under your typical lighting to ensure accuracy. Planning for extra material may be necessary for dense, vivid colors like PMS 313 C.

How do I make sure I am ordering the correct Pantone color for PMS 313 C?

To avoid errors when ordering, always specify both the Pantone code and full suffix, for example 'PMS 313 C'. The code identifies the exact color target, while the suffix (C for coated, U for uncoated, etc.) is essential, as different suffixes reference different color standards. Relying only on the color name or dropping the suffix increases the risk of ordering the wrong variant. Double-check your documentation and ensure your vendors use the same code reference for PMS 313 C.

When is ordering a standard match to Pantone PMS 313 C appropriate for marketing or display projects?

A standard Pantone match for PMS 313 C is ideal for marketing displays, signage, exhibit components, and prototypes where visual brand alignment is the main objective. This allows your components to visually reference the official brand color, especially when exact substrate or finish matching is less critical than achieving a consistent branded look. If your application is for brand-facing or temporary marketing projects, a standard Pantone match for PMS 313 C is typically the right approach.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 313 C?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 313 C depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. Most expedited production orders ship within 24 hours on business days. Please contact MyPerfectColor if you are concerned about a specific deadline. Can I use the Pantone PMS 313 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
