Pantone™ PMS 312 C

Pantone PMS 312 C defines a color target for brand consistency, but does not specify gloss level, substrate, or application process. Existing finishes may vary in sheen and material, so matching solely by PMS 312 C can result in visible differences. For touch-ups or repairs, it is important to match the original coating's finish and application method, which a Pantone reference cannot guarantee. Relying only on PMS 312 C for touch-up may lead to mismatches in appearance under real conditions.

For PMS 312 C, apply several thin coats instead of one thick coat to achieve an accurate, even finish. Allow each layer to dry before adding the next to prevent runs or unevenness. This approach is especially important for highly saturated colors like PMS 312 C, which may require additional coats for full coverage. Following this process helps produce the visual impact and consistency expected for branded and display applications.

The finish selected for PMS 312 C, such as gloss, satin, or matte, influences how the color is perceived. Gloss finishes tend to enhance vibrancy and saturation, making the cyan-blue look more vivid and attention-grabbing. Satin provides a balance between vibrancy and a softer appearance. Matte finishes can mute the perceived intensity and reduce light reflections, resulting in a more subdued look. To achieve the intended brand presence, confirm the finish specification alongside the color.

The SDS for PMS 312 C paint is specific to the product type and formulation, not the Pantone color code itself. To locate the correct SDS, identify the product (such as spray paint or housepaint) and visit the SDS library for that product line. Always check that the SDS matches the paint base and format you are ordering in PMS 312 C.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.
