PMS 277 C is part of the Pantone Matching System (PMS) collection and is typically described as a light, subdued, cool blue. The color's overall vibe is described as clean, calm, approachable, and professional, often selected for environments or brands requiring a soft, yet distinctly blue impression.

PMS 277 C appears as a light blue, with a moderately high light reflectance value (LRV) of 54.93. The color exhibits a cool temperature and maintains a clear, yet somewhat muted chroma. PMS 277 C possesses a subtle, soft blue undertone rather than leaning purple or green. The color generally shows low sensitivity to finish but may appear brighter or more reflective in high-gloss coatings. PMS 277 C is perceived as less saturated compared to vivid, primary blues.

PMS 277 C is operationally effective when a light, recognizable blue is needed for identity or wayfinding systems without overpowering other visual elements. It maintains its clarity in most lighting conditions but can appear slightly more washed out under extremely bright or fluorescent lighting. Compared to stronger or darker blues, PMS 277 C will offer lighter coverage over contrasting substrates and may require attention to substrate color and primer selection for uniform application. Color shift due to finish selection is moderate; review samples in actual conditions before specification on critical branding projects.

Similar colors:
PMS 278 C offers a slightly lighter, more delicate blue with less chroma than PMS 277 C.

PMS 542 C is a touch darker and slightly more saturated, presenting a more corporate appearance.

PMS 290 C is paler and cooler, appearing almost pastel compared to PMS 277 C.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 277 C

Are there any notable brand or real-world applications for Pantone PMS 277 C?

Pantone PMS 277 C is frequently specified for identity, signage, and display applications where a light, professional blue is needed. It is chosen for branded spaces, wayfinding systems, and event environments requiring a clear but welcoming brand color. If your standards or projects call for PMS 277 C, using a paint version matched to this code helps maintain consistency across physical brand elements.

How do I choose the right paint type for using Pantone PMS 277 C indoors or outdoors?

When specifying Pantone PMS 277 C for interior applications, select a paint formulated for interior use, such as custom interior spray paint or house paint. For outdoor uses, choose an exterior-grade product to ensure durability against weather and UV exposure. Always match the paint chemistry to your installation environment to achieve the best performance with the PMS 277 C color.

What should I consider when using Pantone PMS 277 C in pop-ups or retail spaces?

For pop-up and retail environments, evaluate how PMS 277 C looks under actual lighting conditions before full-scale use. Because lighting can affect the appearance of this light blue, request samples and review them as installed. Also, select finishes that meet your durability needs, as high-gloss versions may reflect more light and matte finishes may show color as softer. Sampling ensures your branded look aligns with expectations for PMS 277 C.

How do undercoats and coverage planning affect results with Pantone PMS 277 C?

Pantone PMS 277 C is a light, less saturated blue and may provide lighter coverage over darker or contrasting substrates. To achieve uniform color, use a white or light gray primer as an undercoat, especially on dark surfaces. Applying multiple coats may be necessary for even coverage and the intended brand color appearance. Planning for proper undercoating helps reduce color variability and achieves more consistent results with PMS 277 C.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 277 C?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 277 C depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. Most expedited production orders ship within 24 hours on business days. Please contact MyPerfectColor if you are concerned about a specific deadline. Can I use the Pantone PMS 277 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

How do I convert PMS 277 C to a different color from another paint company?

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 277 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information.
