PMS 2405 C is part of the Pantone PMS (Pantone Matching System) collection and presents as a deep, vivid magenta. The color conveys a strong, energetic, and confident vibe. It is visually prominent, modern, and demanding of attention, aligning with contemporary branding needs where visibility and color fidelity are paramount.

PMS 2405 C appears distinctly dark, with a low light reflectance value (LRV) of 9.01. The color shows a cool, pronounced magenta hue, falling on the cooler side of the red-purple spectrum. Saturation is high, lending the color strong vibrancy and boldness. Undertones are clearly cool magenta, with no apparent warmth. The color is sensitive to finish, appearing deeper and richer in glossier sheens and potentially flatter or chalkier in matte applications.

PMS 2405 C is frequently specified for use in branded displays, tradeshow graphics, and marketing activations where consistent, bold color is required.

PMS 2405 C works well for applications demanding clear and vivid color recognition, especially in branded spaces, signage, or prototype models. It should be evaluated under project lighting to ensure that its deep saturation is maintained without appearing overly dark or muted. Glossier finishes can enhance visual impact but may amplify surface imperfections. Given its richness, expect possible challenges in achieving full hide over light-colored surfaces; multiple coats or specialty primers may be required for uniform coverage. Relative to other magentas, PMS 2405 C is more saturated and deeper, which increases its prominence but may make subtle surface or texture variations more noticeable.

This Pantone PMS color is defined by the Pantone Matching System standard. Evaluate the color using a physical Pantone reference and a real paint sample in the intended lighting and finish. Paint appearance varies by finish and lighting.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 2405 C

What are some typical branding or display uses for Pantone PMS 2405 C?

Pantone PMS 2405 C is frequently seen in branded displays, event graphics, and marketing activations, especially where strong color visibility and modern, energetic branding are required. It has been widely used in retail brand event graphics and is commonly cited in visual merchandising literature as a tool for attracting attention in crowded trade show or retail environments. This vivid magenta is specified by brands aiming for clear color recognition and bold visual impact.

How should I use samples of PMS 2405 C in my brand approval workflow?

For projects involving PMS 2405 C where formal brand or client approval is required, order a small sample of the color in the intended finish and substrate type. Evaluate the sample under installed project lighting and on the actual material to confirm appearance before committing to a full project order. This helps ensure that the final result aligns with your visual brand standards, minimizing risk of costly reshoots or rework.

Why does PMS 2405 C sometimes look different in various lighting conditions?

Pantone PMS 2405 C is a deep, saturated magenta that can shift appearance based on lighting type and intensity. The color may appear darker, more vivid, or less saturated depending on whether it is viewed under natural light, fluorescent, LED, or other sources. Always review the color under the actual lighting conditions where your finished display or installation will be shown to confirm it meets your expectations and brand requirements.

What should I consider when planning coverage and undercoats for PMS 2405 C?

PMS 2405 C is highly saturated and has a low light reflectance value, meaning that achieving full uniform coverage over lighter surfaces may require multiple coats or a suitable undercoat. Plan for extra material and application time, especially on high-contrast surfaces. Using a primer or a colored undercoat can help improve hide and visual consistency, reducing the chance of uneven or muted color areas.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 2405 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
