PMS 244 C is a Pantone Matching System (PMS) color from the Pantone PMS collection. It displays a balanced, soft lavender-pink appearance with a modern, approachable vibe. The color character is defined by a cool undertone, moderate saturation, and a light to mid-value presence. It reads as clean, contemporary, and lively while maintaining a professional appearance suited to branded environments, exhibit displays, and prototype work.

- PMS 244 C appears visually as a light-to-mid-tone lavender pink.

- The color leans cool in temperature due to its position within the hue range.

- Saturation is moderate, yielding notable chromatic intensity without overwhelming vividness.

- Undertone presents as blue-violet, giving the color a distinctly cool, almost pastel-leaning character.

- The color has an LRV of 48.28, indicating moderate reflectance that avoids both extremes of brightness or darkness.

- Perceived appearance may shift subtly based on finish choice; gloss finishes will enhance vibrancy, while matte may yield a softer, powdery effect.

PMS 244 C works well in settings where a friendly, clean, and modern pink is desired for brand-facing interactions, display components, or prototype objects. Due to its moderate chroma and cool undertone, it is more stable under various lighting scenarios than more saturated pinks but may still show shifts under warm lighting. Coverage may require consideration, especially when applied over dark substrates, as mid-tone and pastel colors can be sensitive to substrate color and uniformity. Surface preparation and finish selection should be aligned to support target color read and context requirements. Compared to similar hues, PMS 244 C is distinctly cooler and more reserved, making it less subject to color fatigue and easier to harmonize with corporate palettes featuring grays, blues, or violets.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 244 C

What does it mean to order PMS 244 C paint as a Pantone PMS match?

When you order PMS 244 C as a Pantone PMS match, you are requesting paint custom formulated to visually match the standardized Pantone color reference known as PMS 244 C. Pantone PMS is a color communication standard used for specifying an exact color target. It is not a specific paint recipe, coating technology, or finish. This means the match is based on visual alignment to the PMS 244 C color standard, and not on a proprietary manufacturing process or a factory-issued color formula.

PMS 244 C match paint is intended for applications where a consistent, branded visual appearance is required for displays, exhibits, or prototypes. If you have strict requirements for substrate, finish, or process, a sample or approval step is recommended before full production.

What surface preparation is recommended before applying PMS 244 C matched paint?

For best results with PMS 244 C matched paint, surfaces should be clean, dry, and free of dust, grease, and oils. Start by thoroughly cleaning the substrate with a suitable cleaner or mild detergent. Degrease if necessary, especially for metal or plastic. For most surfaces, lightly scuff or sand to promote adhesion, taking care not to damage substrate details. Wipe away sanding residue and re-clean if needed. Before full application, apply a test spot to confirm adhesion and appearance. Proper prep helps ensure that PMS 244 C is visually accurate and durable in your application.

How can lighting affect the appearance of PMS 244 C paint?

The appearance of PMS 244 C paint can vary noticeably under different lighting conditions. This color, like most Pantone PMS matches, may look cooler, warmer, lighter, or more muted depending on the type and intensity of the light. For example, under warm incandescent light, PMS 244 C may appear slightly warmer and less vibrant, while under daylight-balanced or cool LED lighting it will look closer to the intended standard. Always evaluate painted samples of PMS 244 C in the actual lighting where they will be used to confirm that the visual color alignment meets your brand or project goals.

What is the typical lead time for ordering PMS 244 C paint?

PMS 244 C paint is custom made to order for each project. Lead times can vary depending on the specific product format (such as spray paint, paint pens, or other options) and current production volume. In most cases, production begins after your order is placed and is completed as quickly as our schedule allows. If you are working with a tight marketing or fabrication deadline, check current lead times and consider ordering early to ensure on-time delivery for your PMS 244 C project.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 244 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
