PMS 2385 C is a Pantone Matching System (PMS) color defined within the Pantone PMS collection. Recognized for its bold, vivid magenta hue, it projects a contemporary and energetic vibe. This color is frequently perceived as striking, attention-grabbing, and modern, making it prevalent in contexts where high visual impact is required. Its character is decisively chromatic with a cool undertone, offering a technical and distinctive identity in painted and branded environments.
PMS 2385 C appears relatively dark for a magenta, with a low light reflectance value (LRV 20.14). The color presents a cool tendency, leaning toward blue-violet within the magenta range. This color exhibits high saturation, resulting in a vivid and intense appearance. PMS 2385 C has a clear cool undertone without significant warmth. The vibrancy of this color can be strongly influenced by lighting and chosen finish; gloss may heighten its intensity, while matte finishes can subdue its chroma.
PMS 2385 C is effective where a saturated, memorable magenta is required for visual branding, exhibit components, or marketing assets. It delivers strong presence both in direct lighting and under artificial or display lighting, but can shift in perceived vibrancy depending on surface gloss and ambient conditions. For best results, sample the paint in the finishing environment and be aware that saturated colors may require a colored base or multiple coats for uniform coverage. When compared to other saturated magentas, PMS 2385 C generally reads as cooler and deeper.
This Pantone PMS color is defined by the Pantone Matching System standard. Evaluate the color using a physical Pantone reference and a real paint sample in the intended lighting and finish. Paint appearance varies by finish and lighting.

No. Even though the color target for PMS 2385 C stays the same, changing the sheen can make it look different. Gloss finishes tend to increase the color's brightness and saturation, making PMS 2385 C appear more vibrant and intense. Matte finishes can mute its appearance, making it seem less chromatic and slightly darker. If an exact visual match is critical, always compare physical samples of PMS 2385 C in the intended finish and lighting before finalizing your choice.
PMS 2385 C is a highly saturated magenta with lower hide, meaning it may need more than one coat for consistent coverage, especially over contrasting or patchy surfaces. For best results, consider using a colored undercoat that is similar in value or hue to PMS 2385 C, as this can help achieve a uniform finish with fewer coats. Always plan for additional paint and sample your intended application to confirm coverage meets your requirements.
PMS 2385 C is often chosen for sign, display, and exhibit fabrication because its bold magenta tone is recognized within many brand standards and visual identity systems. In these contexts, a precise Pantone match helps ensure the display reflects the intended brand image and stands out as required. For best accuracy, test samples of PMS 2385 C on the actual substrate and in the planned lighting and finish before final production, as appearance can vary with materials and conditions.

Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
