PMS 204 C is part of the Pantone Matching System (Pantone PMS) collection. This color is visually recognized for its vivid, unapologetic pink hue, moderate lightness, and strong chromatic intensity. The overall vibe includes descriptors such as lively, energetic, contemporary, bold, and youthful, making it suitable for high-impact visual applications.

PMS 204 C appears as a moderately light, saturated pink (LRV 34.05).

The color exhibits a cool undertone, with a slight lean toward magenta.

It demonstrates a high level of chroma, contributing to its vibrancy and visual impact.

This color shows moderate finish sensitivity; gloss and matte finishes will influence its perceived brightness and intensity.

PMS 204 C is generally perceived as clean, modern, and visually assertive.

PMS 204 C performs well in branding, marketing, and display environments where a vivid, saturated pink is necessary for visual impact. Care should be taken to evaluate the color in the intended finish and under actual lighting conditions, as this can significantly alter its appearance—especially in environments with varied natural or artificial illumination. Compared to other saturated pinks, PMS 204 C maintains a balanced brightness without excessive neon quality, helping it stand out without being overwhelming. Adequate surface preparation and product selection will ensure uniform coverage, noting that highly saturated colors can sometimes require additional coats for true opacity.

This Pantone PMS color is defined by the Pantone Matching System standard. Evaluate the color using a physical Pantone reference and a real paint sample in the intended lighting and finish. Paint appearance varies by finish and lighting.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 204 C

How do I make sure I order the exact Pantone PMS 204 C color and not a similar pink by mistake?

To avoid ordering the wrong product, always specify the full Pantone code, which in this case is PMS 204 C. The code is not just a color name but a precise identifier in the Pantone Matching System, including the numeric value and suffix (such as 'C' for coated). Do not substitute with a similar color name or omit the suffix, as small differences in code or series can represent different colors. When placing your order, double-check that PMS 204 C is the exact code listed for your paint or material choice to ensure brand alignment and avoid costly errors.

When is a primer required for painting with Pantone PMS 204 C?

The need for a primer when using PMS 204 C depends on the specific paint type, the substrate being coated, and the exposure conditions. Primers are recommended on bare, porous, or glossy surfaces to promote adhesion and achieve uniform color, especially for bright and saturated shades like PMS 204 C which may need additional coverage. If you are applying PMS 204 C over dark or uneven surfaces, or onto materials like raw wood, metal, or plastic, primer is often necessary for best results. Refer to product-specific primer guidance provided with your selected paint format for details.

Why can PMS 204 C look different in gloss versus matte finishes even if the color code is the same?

PMS 204 C is sensitive to changes in finish. High gloss finishes make colors appear brighter and more saturated, while matte finishes can soften the color and make it seem lighter or less intense. This means that PMS 204 C may look visually different depending on whether it is applied in a gloss, satin, or matte sheens, even though the color code is unchanged. For brand or display work, always evaluate the color in the intended finish and lighting conditions before final approval to ensure it meets appearance expectations.

Where do I find the safety data sheet (SDS) for Pantone PMS 204 C paint?

The safety data sheet for PMS 204 C is determined by the paint product or type, not by the color code. To locate the correct SDS, find the specific paint format (such as spray paint, acrylic, or urethane) and visit the SDS resource or library for that product. The color matches the Pantone standard, but safety and handling details will depend on the product used, so match the SDS to your chosen paint type for PMS 204 C.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 204 C?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 204 C depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. Most expedited production orders ship within 24 hours on business days. Please contact MyPerfectColor if you are concerned about a specific deadline. We do our best to make sure you get your paint on time. Learn more about paint lead times at MyPerfectColor.
Can I use the Pantone PMS 204 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 204 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information.
