PMS 205 C is part of the Pantone PMS (Pantone Matching System) collection. This color is perceived as lively, modern, and assertive, with a saturated, high-visibility presence. It is frequently described as a raspberry pink with pronounced red undertones, making it well-suited for attention-grabbing brand environments, display graphics, and visual merchandising where strong color differentiation is needed.
PMS 205 C presents as a moderately dark, vivid pink; its LRV is 22.93, indicating relatively low reflectivity and deeper presence. The color exhibits a warm tendency, skewing more red than blue within the pink spectrum. This color shows high saturation, delivering strong chromatic intensity. PMS 205 C possesses a red-pink undertone, visible in both direct and diffused light. The perceived vibrancy can increase in higher-gloss or smooth finishes and may appear more muted in matte applications. PMS 205 C can display variability depending on lighting, especially under warm versus cool illuminants.
PMS 205 C works effectively where high color visibility and assertive design are desired, such as in temporary brand displays, retail activation zones, or marketing exhibits. Users should confirm the color appearance under final lighting conditions and with the chosen finish; gloss accentuates vibrancy, while matte may subdue the color. Due to its strong saturation and relatively low LRV, PMS 205 C can sometimes require additional coats for full, even coverage. As with all highly chromatic PMS colors, evaluate substrate influence and conduct testing on final materials where color accuracy is critical.

PMS 212 C: Lighter and less saturated, producing a softer, pastel pink appearance.
PMS 205 U: Slightly duller and provides a more muted pink due to uncoated stock interpretation.
PMS 206 C: Deeper and more red-forward, yielding a stronger, more intense magenta effect.
PMS 192 C: Redder and somewhat darker, with less overt pinkness than PMS 205 C.

Pantone PMS 205 C is commonly specified as a brand standard target for signs, displays, and exhibits where visual consistency is essential. Many brand guidelines require the use of exact Pantone colors like PMS 205 C to ensure that fabricated elements such as signage or branded environments have the intended visual impact. It is important to test the color on the actual substrate and finish you will use for fabrication, since the final appearance of PMS 205 C can vary based on material, gloss level, and lighting. Sampling the paint on your chosen substrate before full production helps confirm that the outcome aligns with brand expectations and reduces the risk of unexpected color differences across materials.
A standard aerosol can of paint matched to PMS 205 C typically covers about 20 to 25 square feet per coat under ideal conditions on a smooth, primed surface. Because PMS 205 C is a vivid, highly saturated pink with a lower LRV, it may require two or more coats for full opacity, especially over darker substrates. Surface texture, color of the underlying surface, and your application method can all affect actual coverage. Estimate your total surface area, multiply by the number of coats needed for uniform color, and divide by the expected coverage per can to calculate how many cans you will need. Planning for a small margin of extra paint is recommended for best results.
The specific VOC content and safety precautions for paint matched to PMS 205 C depend on the type of paint format you choose, such as spray paint, epoxy, or housepaint. Always consult the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) provided with your product to review ventilation, handling, and disposal recommendations. Use appropriate personal protective equipment, follow local regulations, and apply in a well-ventilated area. Never assume all Pantone PMS 205 C paints have identical handling needs, since formulation can vary by product type and base chemistry.
Pantone PMS 205 C specifies a standard color for new production and brand-facing applications. However, if you need an exact match to an existing part, ordering PMS 205 C as a reference may not be sufficient due to potential differences in substrate, age, and finish. For touch-up grade matching, it is best to send a physical part or panel from your project for a custom match. This approach helps account for variations and delivers the closest possible result on your specific material and finish.
Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 205 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
