PMS 189 C is part of the Pantone PMS system, a standardized collection widely used in brand and specification contexts for color control across media and substrates. This color presents a light, soft, and fresh character, with a balanced and clear appearance that maintains visibility while remaining gentle. The overall vibe of PMS 189 C is approachable, soft, contemporary, and visually distinct without being overpowering.
PMS 189 C is moderately light in value (LRV 49.89). The color has a cool to neutral tendency, which contributes to a crisp pink appearance. PMS 189 C is moderately saturated, making it vivid yet understated. The undertone of PMS 189 C is clean with a subtle blue-pink nuance. This color can show some finish sensitivity; gloss levels may intensify its chromatic appearance, while matte finishes may create a softer effect.
PMS 189 C works well for display graphics, point-of-sale materials, and any branded physical assets where a light, recognizable pink is required. It maintains consistent visibility against both light and dark backgrounds. Evaluate lighting carefully, as surrounding colors and lighting temperature can shift its perceived pinkness. For larger surfaces or backlit applications, ensure finish selection supports the intended visual impact as glossier finishes will amplify saturation and brightness versus matte or flat sheens. Compared to other pinks in the Pantone system, PMS 189 C avoids an overtly warm or coral cast, offering a cooler, cleaner pink impression.
Similar colors:

PMS 1895 C – Slightly more chromatic and warmer, appearing stronger and closer to a rose pink.
PMS 705 C – Noticeably lighter and less saturated, presenting as a pale, nearly white pink.

Pantone PMS 189 C is a light, crisp pink often chosen by brands and organizations for displays, signage, and marketing activations where a visually distinct yet approachable color is required. While individual brand names are not always published, PMS 189 C is routinely specified for point-of-sale materials, branded displays, packaging prototypes, and event collateral when a clean pink is part of the visual identity. Its consistent reproduction across substrates makes it suitable for both temporary and permanent branded environments needing accurate Pantone color communication.
One standard spray can of PMS 189 C typically covers about 20 to 25 square feet per coat on smooth, non-porous surfaces. Actual coverage may vary based on surface texture, application method, and the number of coats required. PMS 189 C is a moderately saturated color, so lighter backgrounds may need two or more coats for full hide and brand-consistent color. To estimate quantity, measure the total square footage to be painted, multiply by the number of coats needed for your substrate and finish, then divide by the coverage per can. Round up to allow for testing and minor overspray, especially on absorbent or highly visible surfaces.
Pantone PMS 189 C specifies a color target but does not define finish, sheen, or specific substrate conditions. In practice, the original product may differ in gloss, aging, or formulation, even if it was matched to PMS 189 C at the time of manufacturing. For this reason, PMS 189 C is not a reliable reference for touch-up or repair of existing coatings, as visible differences are likely. For brand consistency on new or full repaints, PMS 189 C is an appropriate standard, but it should not be used when trying to touch up isolated areas on existing assets.
The sheen chosen for PMS 189 C will noticeably affect its visual appearance. Glossy finishes will heighten the saturation and brightness, making the pink more vivid, while matte or flat sheens will create a softer, subtler look. For applications requiring maximum brand impact and clean color, such as displays viewed up close, a higher gloss may be suitable. For larger surfaces or environments with varied lighting, a lower sheen can reduce glare and keep the pink consistent under different angles. Always confirm finish requirements with brand guidelines and evaluate a sample under your actual lighting conditions before full production.
Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 189 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
