PMS 1807 C is a standardized color from the Pantone Matching System (Pantone PMS collection). Visually, it conveys a deep, restrained, and technical character, appearing solid, grounded, and professional. The color is often perceived as warm and muted, aligning with design needs for a sophisticated or established look.

PMS 1807 C appears dark in most applications, aligning with its low reflectance value (LRV 9.54). The color tends toward warmth, with an undertone aligned more closely to brick or burgundy reds rather than pure or orange reds. PMS 1807 C exhibits moderate chroma, resulting in a subdued, not overly saturated, presence. Undertones are earthy and muted compared to brighter or more vibrant reds. The color’s appearance can shift based on finish; matte finishes increase its subtlety, while gloss finishes activate more depth. PMS 1807 C typically provides strong coverage, but the low LRV means it may require attention to surface preparation on lighter substrates.

PMS 1807 C works well when a design specifies a mature, authoritative red that supports branded environments, product prototypes, or signage where a bold yet understated red is needed. For best color accuracy, evaluate samples in the actual lighting and finish intended for final use; PMS 1807 C may appear even deeper or more subdued under soft or indirect light. When compared to similar reds, PMS 1807 C stands out for its lack of overt brightness, offering more visual restraint and less risk of color shift due to glare or uneven lighting.

Similar colors:
PMS 1817 C: Appears darker and even more subdued, with an earthier, almost brownish cast.

PMS 1805 C: Slightly more vivid and brighter, providing a more saturated and lighter alternative.

PMS 202 C: Leans cooler and a touch more neutral, creating a more restrained red with less warmth.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 1807 C

What does it mean to order PMS 1807 C paint as a Pantone match?

Ordering PMS 1807 C as a Pantone match means you are requesting a paint product designed to visually match the Pantone PMS 1807 C color standard. Pantone PMS 1807 C is a color target and communication reference, not a specific paint formula or manufacturing method. Paint matched to PMS 1807 C will align with the color appearance under standard viewing conditions but is not tied to a particular coating system, ingredient list, or surface finish. If you need confirmation of appearance for your actual application, especially for brand environments, request a sample prior to full commitment.

How do I choose the correct paint type for PMS 1807 C for interior or exterior use?

When specifying PMS 1807 C for your project, select the paint type based on where and how it will be used. For interior environments and temporary displays, standard interior paint or spray paint is often suitable. For outdoor or high-traffic installations, choose exterior-rated paint to ensure durability against weather and handling. The PMS 1807 C color reference will be matched for visual accuracy, but performance depends on the selected paint chemistry. If in doubt, clarify the installation conditions so you order the right format for your needs.

How will the finish or sheen affect how PMS 1807 C appears once applied?

The finish you choose for PMS 1807 C paint directly affects how the color will look in your environment. A gloss or high-gloss finish makes PMS 1807 C appear deeper and may increase perceived saturation, especially under strong lighting. A matte or flat finish will make the color look more subdued and can reduce reflections, leading to a softer appearance. Keep in mind that lighting and surrounding surfaces may also impact perception. For strict brand standards, approve the finish together with the color reference on a sample before full-scale production.

When should I request a sample of PMS 1807 C before ordering for a branded project?

Sampling PMS 1807 C is strongly recommended before large-scale ordering if your project is high-visibility, must meet formal brand standards, or will be installed in permanent or critical brand environments. Sampling lets you review the color's appearance under actual lighting with the intended finish. It is especially important when PMS 1807 C will be applied to unfamiliar substrates or viewed in unusual lighting. Sampling reduces brand risk by enabling validation and stakeholder approvals before committing to production quantities.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 1807 C?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 1807 C depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. Can I use the Pantone PMS 1807 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 1807 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information.
