PMS 167 C

A deep orange-brown commonly referenced for brand, display, and environmental graphics requiring warm, earthy visual emphasis.

PMS 167 C (System / collection: Pantone PMS) is widely regarded as a deep, warm-toned orange-brown. The color carries an earthy, robust, and grounded vibe with a distinctly saturated character. Its relatively low light reflectance value means it presents as strong and bold, while still offering visual warmth and reliability.

- PMS 167 C has a low LRV of 17.59, making it a deep and visually strong color. - The color is warm-toned, with a pronounced orange-brown base. - Saturation is relatively high, leading to a vivid and unmistakable presence. - Undertones trend toward earthy, clay-like brown-orange. - The color can shift in perceived depth and intensity under variable lighting, especially as finish gloss increases.

PMS 167 C works well where a distinctly earthy, warm, and saturated visual is needed, particularly in branded experiences, environmental graphics, or applications emphasizing natural warmth without sacrificing intensity. Careful consideration should be given to lighting conditions and finish, as higher gloss can amplify the color’s warmth and depth, while matte finishes may mute its vibrancy. When specified instead of similar browns or oranges, PMS 167 C offers enhanced chromatic warmth and a more saturated appearance, but may require attention to coverage on light or high-contrast substrates.

Similar colors:
PMS 1675 C is deeper and darker, offering a more muted and less saturated warmth.

PMS 471 C is lighter and slightly more orange-hued, providing a brighter and less earthy effect.

PMS 152 C is warmer and more vibrant, with an orange bias and higher perceived brightness.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 167 C

Why does it matter that MyPerfectColor is authorized to reproduce Pantone PMS 167 C paint?

Pantone PMS 167 C is a licensed color standard, meaning the code represents a very specific color target that brand owners and manufacturers worldwide rely on for visual consistency. MyPerfectColor is authorized to reproduce Pantone PMS 167 C, which means your paint is formulated to align with the officially recognized color standard. This helps ensure that displays, branded assets, and prototypes created in PMS 167 C will accurately represent the intended brand color, reducing the risk of visual discrepancies that can occur with unlicensed or unofficial mixes.

When is it appropriate to order paint matched to Pantone PMS 167 C as a standard Pantone reference?

Ordering PMS 167 C as a standard Pantone match is appropriate for brand-facing applications such as signage, marketing displays, exhibit components, and prototypes where the visual brand color is the key requirement. If your project specifies PMS 167 C in a brand guideline, or you need paint to match the Pantone color for a branded event, retail pop-up, or any temporary or visual marketing use, the standard match is the correct target. For permanent installations, or when matching across diverse substrates, it is advisable to evaluate samples under actual lighting before full production.

What should I consider when comparing PMS 167 C paint samples for approval?

When evaluating paint matched to PMS 167 C, compare samples on the same substrate and under consistent lighting conditions that reflect your intended environment. Always allow the paint film to fully dry or cure before making approval decisions, since color appearance can shift as coatings set. Using the same gloss and surface texture on all samples improves the reliability of comparisons, helping ensure your final branding or display asset reflects the true PMS 167 C visual standard.

How much area will a spray can of PMS 167 C typically cover, and how should I estimate quantity needed?

A standard spray can of PMS 167 C typically covers about 20 square feet per coat on a smooth surface. Coverage can be reduced by surface texture, color contrast with the substrate, and the number of coats required for full opacity. Since PMS 167 C is a deep, saturated color, you may need extra coats for even color and proper hide, especially over light or high-contrast surfaces. To estimate quantity, measure total project area, multiply by the number of coats anticipated, and account for 10 to 20 percent overage for best results.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 167 C?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 167 C depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. Can I use the Pantone PMS 167 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

MyPerfectColor custom spray paint enables you to conveniently achieve a professional spray-smooth finish in any color in any sheen. Most people don't use a primer for a touch up paint application, but a primer may improve adhesion and is typically recommended for exterior applications.
How do I convert PMS 167 C to a different color from another paint company?

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 167 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
