PMS 160 C is part of the Pantone PMS system, used extensively in branding, marketing, and design applications where color accuracy is critical. The color presents as an earthy, robust brown with moderate to low light reflectance. The overall vibe can be described as confident, grounded, stable, and technical—qualities often valued for identity-focused environmental graphics or brand-driven environments.
PMS 160 C appears noticeably dark, with a low Light Reflectance Value (LRV 13.84), meaning it absorbs much of the available light. The color has a clearly warm tendency, with orange-to-yellow undertones visible under both direct and indirect lighting. PMS 160 C is strongly saturated, presenting with a bold, dense chromatic presence rather than a neutral or muted brown. The color displays a golden-brown undertone, especially prominent in higher-gloss and semi-gloss finishes. Finish sensitivity is moderate; increased gloss may amplify depth and apparent warmth, while matte finishes will subdue the color’s richness.
PMS 160 C is frequently specified for branded exhibits, wayfinding, and retail fixtures requiring an earthy but visually assertive brown.
PMS 160 C performs well in applications requiring a visually assertive yet approachable brown, particularly where warmth and color consistency are brand priorities. It is effective against lighter, cooler backgrounds or in environments aiming to communicate stability and reliability. Users should evaluate finish sensitivity, as gloss can intensify undertones and perceived depth. As with many saturated browns, coverage can require multiple coats, especially over high-contrast or porous substrates. Lighting affects the strength of the golden undertone: warm ambient light will intensify this effect, while cooler lighting may slightly mute it.
This Pantone PMS color is defined by the Pantone Matching System standard. Evaluate the color using a physical Pantone reference and a real paint sample in the intended lighting and finish. Paint appearance varies by finish and lighting.

The durability of PMS 160 C spray paint depends on several factors including surface preparation, the paint type selected, and environmental exposure. For most marketing and display applications, aerosol and professional-grade finishes will provide good durability indoors. If your project involves exposure to frequent handling or outdoor conditions, consider using a higher-performance paint and an appropriate clear topcoat for added protection. Always match the paint system to your display's expected use conditions to maintain brand appearance.
For the best results with PMS 160 C paint, start by cleaning the surface to remove dust, grease, and contaminants. Use a mild degreaser if needed. Lightly scuff glossy or smooth surfaces with fine sandpaper or a scuff pad for improved adhesion. Make sure the surface is completely dry before painting. It is always recommended to test the paint on a small area first to confirm adhesion and appearance before proceeding with the full project.
PMS 160 C can appear different across materials like metal, plastic, and wood due to differences in absorption, surface texture, and reflectivity. For example, porous or textured substrates may make the color seem lighter or less saturated, while high-gloss or smooth surfaces can deepen the appearance. Always evaluate a sample of PMS 160 C on the actual material, finish, and under the lighting used in the final environment to ensure it meets your brand visual standards.
Pantone PMS 160 C is designed for brand color reproduction in new coatings, not for touch-up or repair of existing finishes. If you need touch-up-grade accuracy, the correct process is to send a sample part for custom matching. Using a standard PMS 160 C match is ideal for new displays and components where overall visual alignment is the goal, not for blending repairs into existing finishes.
Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 160 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
