PMS 1485 C is a color in the Pantone PMS (Pantone Matching System) collection, widely used for professional specification in branding, marketing, and industrial design contexts. The overall vibe of PMS 1485 C can be described as energetic, approachable, attention-getting, warm, and contemporary. This color delivers high visual impact and is selected for its lively, unmistakable presence.

PMS 1485 C appears light in value, with an LRV of 58.47, making it moderately reflective and bright. The color has a warm tendency, leaning toward a light orange hue. PMS 1485 C presents strong, noticeable saturation, resulting in a vivid and cheerful impression. The undertone is distinctly orange with a touch of yellow, giving it a clean and forward tone. This color can be sensitive to finish; higher sheen levels may further increase brightness and saturation, while matte finishes may subdue its vibrancy.

PMS 1485 C works well when a project specifies a light, warm, and noticeable orange as a key brand feature or accent. It is effective in spaces or displays requiring clear visibility and a welcoming appearance. Carefully evaluate appearance under intended lighting conditions, as highlights and finish selection can alter the perceived brightness and saturation. Compare PMS 1485 C in situ to similar Pantone oranges, as apparent differences can be subtle but meaningful depending on substrate and environment.

Similar colors:
PMS 1495 C: Slightly darker and more saturated, resulting in a deeper and more impactful orange.

PMS 1505 C: Deeper and more chromatic, with a bolder, stronger orange character.

PMS 1625 C: Lighter, softer, and less saturated, giving a more pastel orange appearance.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 1485 C

How should I use PMS 1485 C in prototypes or concept models to represent the intended brand color accurately?

To represent PMS 1485 C accurately in prototypes or concept models, select a paint format that is compatible with your materials such as spray paint, paint pens, or brush-in-cap bottles. Apply PMS 1485 C to the same substrate intended for final production when possible. Evaluate your results under the lighting conditions where the product or display will be used. This ensures your prototype aligns visually with brand expectations. Allow all coatings to dry according to manufacturer instructions before comparing. If brand approval is required, confirm acceptance standards with your stakeholders early in the process.

What should I consider regarding hide and undercoating when using PMS 1485 C paint?

PMS 1485 C is a light and highly saturated orange, which means it may provide less hide over dark or contrasting substrates. For the most uniform and vivid result, consider applying a white or light-colored undercoat before painting with PMS 1485 C. Plan for multiple coats to achieve full coverage and brand-consistent appearance, especially when working on challenging surfaces. Review all finish and substrate specifications to avoid surprises in coverage or appearance.

What is the best way to evaluate PMS 1485 C samples for color approval?

To accurately compare and approve PMS 1485 C paint samples, always use the same lighting and substrate conditions as the final installation. Let coatings fully dry or cure before evaluation, as color and sheen may shift during drying. Place samples side by side with the approved Pantone reference if available, and assess under the lighting the project will use. Consistency in these variables will give you the most reliable brand alignment and prevent unexpected outcomes during rollout.

How do shipping factors impact the delivery of PMS 1485 C paint for my project?

Shipping transit time for PMS 1485 C paint depends on your location, the selected shipping method, and current carrier timelines. Custom mixed paints may require additional lead time for production before shipment. To help avoid project delays, plan your order to account for production and transit. If you have a fixed installation or marketing schedule, order as early as possible and consult the supplier for any rush options that fit your timeline.

Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. Can I use the Pantone PMS 1485 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
