Pantone® PMS 1265 C is an understated, earthy yellow with moderate brown influence, delivering a subdued yet distinctive presence. This color is recognized for its muted, natural character and is often described as warm, grounding, and stable. It projects a professional vibe suited for applications where a sense of reliability and approachability is desired. Typical environments include marketing displays, environmental graphics, and branded retail elements where color fidelity and consistency across materials are operational priorities.
PMS 1265 C appears noticeably dark, with an LRV of 15.27. The color displays a warm undertone, influenced by yellow and brown notes. This color presents moderate chroma, neither fully saturated nor completely neutralized. The brownish-yellow undertone becomes most apparent under neutral or daylight-balanced lighting. PMS 1265 C may show increased depth and warmth in matte or low-gloss finishes; higher sheens can highlight subtle undertones.
PMS 1265 C is effective wherever a subdued, earthy yellow is required to complement natural palettes or to offer contrast against cooler tones. It excels in spaces favoring warm, approachable colors that do not overpower. When evaluating this color, control for lighting variation, as yellow-brown hues may appear duller or more orange depending on illumination. Application to clean, primed surfaces will deliver the most consistent result. Compared to more saturated yellows, PMS 1265 C reads as more neutral and less prone to color shift in variable lighting.

This is critical when color fidelity is a requirement for brand environments or client approvals.
The sheen you choose for Pantone PMS 1265 C directly influences how the color looks in your project. Matte or low-gloss finishes tend to emphasize the warm, earthy qualities of this yellow-brown and can minimize reflections, which is useful for close-up displays or surfaces viewed under direct lighting. Higher sheens, such as gloss or semi-gloss, can cause subtle undertones to appear more pronounced and may make the color look slightly lighter or deeper depending on the angle and lighting. When deciding, consider the viewing environment, desired visual effect, and any substrate-specific requirements. Ordering a sample in your intended sheen is advised if color perception is critical.
Always use the full Pantone code, which for this color is PMS 1265 C, including all suffixes or series identifiers as specified in your brand standards. Relying only on the color name can lead to confusion, since similar names may exist with different codes or finishes. Supplying the exact code ensures your order targets the correct Pantone standard, helping avoid delays or mismatches in brand displays and marketing elements.
When using Pantone PMS 1265 C on metal or powder-coated surfaces, thorough surface cleaning and scuffing are recommended to promote adhesion and even coverage. Existing coatings, gloss levels, and surface texture can all influence how the final color appears, potentially affecting accuracy when compared to Pantone standards. For critical applications, order a sample panel painted in your intended finish and evaluate it under your actual lighting and installation conditions before committing to a full order.
Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
