PMS 1225 C is part of the Pantone Matching System (PMS), a standardized color communication tool commonly used in brand, marketing, and display contexts. This color presents as a vibrant, medium-light yellow with a high level of chroma and a hue angle indicating a yellow leaning slightly toward green. The overall vibe is energetic, bold, extroverted, and visually assertive, supporting strong brand presence and attention-grabbing design.

PMS 1225 C appears medium-light in value (LRV 64.07), offering substantial brightness while remaining solidly saturated. The color has a distinctly warm appearance, favoring the yellow spectrum with a minor greenish undertone. This color exhibits high saturation, yielding a vivid, almost luminous effect in most lighting conditions. PMS 1225 C contains an energetic yellow core with a subtle acidic or citrus undertone, increasing its visual intensity. The perceived brightness and chromatic intensity can shift with different finishes; higher glosses may enhance vibrancy, while matte finishes may mellow the color slightly.

PMS 1225 C is most effective when vivid, highly recognizable color is essential to a project—such as for brand-driven display, marketing environments, or signage where consistency with Pantone specifications is critical. It performs well in well-lit spaces and on clean, smooth substrates. When specifying for paint applications, confirm substrate priming and opacity expectations, as saturated yellows can require multiple coats to achieve uniform coverage. Evaluate the finish in the intended lighting to ensure desired chromatic strength, as finishes and ambient light can strongly affect perception. When accuracy to Pantone standards is a requirement, always reference a physical Pantone guide and a real paint sample before full production.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 1225 C

What does it mean when I order paint matched to Pantone PMS 1225 C?

Ordering paint matched to Pantone PMS 1225 C means the paint is tinted to visually match the Pantone PMS 1225 C color standard. Pantone PMS codes are used to communicate a specific color appearance for branding or marketing, but they are not paint formulas, specific coatings, or finish specifications. The paint is produced to match the color visually in your chosen format and finish but does not guarantee a formula or coating identical to any other manufacturer.

What should I consider when applying Pantone PMS 1225 C paint to plastics or low energy surfaces?

When using Pantone PMS 1225 C paint on plastics or low energy surfaces, it is important to know that different plastics may require specialized primers or surface preparation to ensure good adhesion. Always test the paint system on your actual part before production, since not all plastics will accept paint in the same way. Consult with the supplier about primer recommendations for your specific substrate to reduce the risk of flaking or poor coverage.

Are there special safety or VOC concerns when using Pantone PMS 1225 C paint?

Pantone PMS 1225 C defines the color target, not the paint's chemical makeup. Safety guidelines and VOC content will depend on which paint product and format you select. Always review the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for your chosen product and follow all ventilation, handling, and protective equipment recommendations provided by the manufacturer for safe use.

Can I use Pantone PMS 1225 C paint for touch-up or color repair applications?

Pantone PMS 1225 C paint is intended for brand color reproduction on new projects and display elements, not for touch-up or repair. Because original coatings can age or vary by substrate and finish, standard Pantone matching is not recommended for repairing existing finishes. If exact spot matching is required on an existing part, send a physical sample for custom color matching to achieve the best results.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 1225 C?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 1225 C depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. Most expedited production orders ship within 24 hours on business days. Please contact MyPerfectColor if you are concerned about a specific deadline. We do our best to make sure you get your paint on time. Learn more about paint lead times at MyPerfectColor.
Can I use the Pantone PMS 1225 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

How do I convert PMS 1225 C to a different color from another paint company?

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 1225 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
