PMS 114 C is part of the Pantone PMS System, a standardized color matching collection frequently used in branding, signage, and display fabrication. The color presents as an energetic, bright yellow with a slightly greenish leaning, making it suitable for attention-grabbing visual statements. Its vibe is clean, lively, technical, and assertive, with a distinctly modern appearance.

PMS 114 C appears light and highly luminous, with a relatively high LRV of 74.16. The color has a warm tendency, with yellow as the dominant hue and a slight green undertone. It is highly saturated, yielding a strong and crisp visual impact. This color may show sensitivity to gloss level; higher-gloss finishes can increase perceived vibrancy, while matte finishes may soften its brightness. The color’s clarity can be affected by substrate texture or underlying color, due to its high chroma and lightness.

PMS 114 C is often specified for marketing displays and installations where maximum visibility is required. The color is referenced in signage and wayfinding schemes that benefit from a strong, attention-grabbing yellow. PMS 114 C is sometimes chosen for brand accents or call-to-action zones in trade show graphics.

PMS 114 C works well in environments where a vivid, standout yellow is needed for rapid recognition or brand consistency. It is best used on smooth, primed surfaces to ensure uniform coverage, as its high lightness and saturation can make substrate show-through or color shifts in layered applications more apparent. Lighting conditions and finish choice significantly affect its visual impact; under cool or dim lighting, the greenish undertone may be more pronounced. When compared to similar yellows, PMS 114 C reads marginally cooler and crisper, with less orange influence.

This Pantone PMS color is defined by the Pantone Matching System standard. Evaluate the color using a physical Pantone reference and a real paint sample in the intended lighting and finish. Paint appearance varies by finish and lighting.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 114 C

What should I consider when specifying PMS 114 C for pop-ups or retail environments?

When using PMS 114 C in pop-ups or retail settings, consider the color's high lightness and saturation. To achieve brand consistency, ensure the finish and substrate match your intended look since PMS 114 C is sensitive to gloss and surface variations. Sample the color in your installed lighting before full production, as this bright yellow may shift in appearance depending on lighting type and substrate texture. Also, select a product format with durability suited to your installation's expected use and traffic. Review installation timelines to confirm color approval and verification steps can be completed before rollout.

How does surface texture affect the appearance of PMS 114 C?

Surface texture can noticeably influence PMS 114 C, which is a highly luminous yellow. On smooth surfaces, the color will appear more even, crisp, and true to the Pantone reference. On textured or uneven substrates, shadows and variable reflectivity can make PMS 114 C appear less saturated, darker, or visually inconsistent. Texture may also cause unexpected shifts in color perception, especially in environments with directional lighting. It is best to sample PMS 114 C on the chosen substrate and finish to confirm appearance before final application.

When is it recommended to sample PMS 114 C before a full-scale order?

Sampling PMS 114 C is strongly recommended for large installations, brand launches, or projects requiring strict brand color alignment. If your project involves critical brand visibility, approval workflows, or application to multiple substrates, ordering a physical sample in the intended finish and lighting will help avoid unexpected color shifts. Sampling is also important with highly saturated colors like PMS 114 C, since visual appearance and coverage can be affected by both substrate and environmental factors.

How can I get the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for paint matched to PMS 114 C?

The Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for paint matched to PMS 114 C depends on the product or paint type, not the color code itself. Select your intended paint format for PMS 114 C and refer to the SDS library for that specific product. The SDS provides information about safe handling, hazards, and compliance for the chosen paint type, regardless of the color applied.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 114 C?

Can I use the Pantone PMS 114 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
