PMS 115 C, part of the Pantone Matching System, is a visibly light, clean, and vibrant yellow with high chroma and a subtle warmth. It reads as crisp and assertive, providing a sense of energy and modernity. The color conveys clarity, brightness, and technical precision, making it well-suited for applications where visibility and brand recognition are prioritized.

PMS 115 C appears light in value, with a notably high LRV (74.16), contributing to its bright appearance. The color expresses a distinctly warm tendency, situated in the yellow hue family with a slight greenish direction in certain lighting. It demonstrates high saturation, presenting as vivid and chromatic rather than muted or pastel. PMS 115 C has a clean undertone without pronounced earthiness or grayness, maintaining a clear yellow impression. This color exhibits finish sensitivity; gloss or semi-gloss finishes will accentuate vibrancy and may intensify perceived chroma, while matte finishes will slightly reduce its visual intensity and apparent brightness.

PMS 115 C functions well where immediate visual impact and brand clarity are needed. It excels in environments with moderate to high lighting, which support its vibrancy. Consistency can be sensitive to substrate and finish, so test samples are important, particularly when used across different materials or under varied lighting. High chroma yellows like PMS 115 C generally require attentive surface prep and multiple coats for full opacity, as coverage may be lower than more muted colors. It is advisable to evaluate the color with the intended finish and lighting conditions to confirm suitability.

Similar colors:
PMS 114 C: Lighter and marginally less saturated, creating a softer yellow effect.

PMS 116 C: Slightly deeper and more golden, resulting in a warmer and more prominent yellow.

PMS 109 C: More chromatic and visually intense, appearing stronger and more saturated than PMS 115 C.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 115 C

How closely will PMS 115 C paint match what I see in my Pantone book?

Pantone books are printed reference standards and show PMS 115 C under specific conditions and on coated paper. Actual painted results will often look slightly different depending on the paint finish, material, and lighting. For PMS 115 C, gloss or semi-gloss finishes can increase vibrancy and saturation compared to the matte sample in a book, while surface texture and ambient light may shift perception of both brightness and warmth. It is strongly recommended to evaluate a sample of PMS 115 C on your actual material and under final lighting before moving ahead with a full project. This approach helps ensure brand expectations are met and reduces the risk of costly rework.

Which sheen is best suited for achieving accurate PMS 115 C results in a branding or display project?

The appearance of PMS 115 C can vary greatly depending on the sheen selected. Gloss and semi-gloss sheens enhance the yellow's brightness and saturation, which can maximize visual impact for branding and displays, especially when viewed from a distance. Matte finishes give a softer and slightly less intense yellow, which may be preferred if minimizing glare or surface imperfections is important. When specifying PMS 115 C, consider the viewing conditions, substrate material, and whether the visual target should match a gloss or matte sample from the Pantone book. Testing a small batch on your specific substrate in the lighting environment is always recommended.

How do I make sure I am ordering the correct PMS 115 C color for my project?

To avoid confusion or mismatches, always specify the full Pantone code when ordering paint for PMS 115 C. The code 'PMS 115 C' defines a precise color within the Pantone Matching System. Do not rely only on the color name or a generic 'yellow' description, as small code differences or missing suffixes (such as 'C' for coated) can result in a noticeably different color. Confirm your specification against your brand guidelines or Pantone reference, and provide the exact code to your vendor for consistent results on marketing, display, and brand fabrication projects.

How much area will one spray can of PMS 115 C typically cover?

Coverage for one spray can of PMS 115 C will depend on surface texture, method of application, and number of coats needed for full coverage. As a high chroma yellow, PMS 115 C usually requires multiple coats to achieve full opacity, especially over dark or uneven surfaces. As a guideline, one 11-12 ounce can may cover about 20 to 25 square feet with one coat on a smooth, primed surface, but total required quantity should be based on applying at least two coats. Plan to test coverage on your actual material and adjust quantities accordingly to ensure color consistency and avoid running short during branding or display fabrication.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 115 C?

Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. Can I use the Pantone PMS 115 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
