Pantone™ PMS 102 C

Changing the sheen or gloss level on PMS 102 C can significantly impact how the color is perceived. This vivid yellow is finish sensitive; a gloss or satin finish will increase the brightness and make the color look even more saturated, while a matte finish will subdue its vibrancy. If you compare a matte sample to a gloss one, they may appear as different colors to the eye, even when the underlying targeted color is exactly the same. When brand consistency and visual impact matter, be sure to specify the correct finish to prevent mismatched expectations.

For best results when using PMS 102 C on metal or powder-coated parts, always scuff and clean the surface to promote adhesion. Existing coatings, gloss, or texture can influence both the coverage and the perceived color. Highly saturated yellows like PMS 102 C may need multiple coats for uniform appearance, especially over darker substrates. Because base color and substrate finish can alter the final result, evaluate a sample on your specific part before approving a full production run.

PMS 102 C is widely noted as an accent color in sports branding, particularly for high-visibility elements such as uniforms and athletic gear. It is also frequently referenced for point-of-sale and retail display design where maximum attention is needed, as well as in event and hospitality environments for signage and wayfinding graphics requiring strong visual contrast. The SDS for paint mixed to PMS 102 C is determined by the paint type and format you choose, not the color code alone. To get the correct SDS, select your preferred product (such as spray paint, acrylic, or urethane) and visit the SDS library for that product line. Always review the SDS for your specific paint product before using it in your project.

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 102 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
