Pantone™ PMS 100 C

When prototyping with PMS 100 C, select a paint format suitable for your model material, such as spray paint for smooth uniform coverage or brush-in-cap bottles for small details. Apply PMS 100 C over a well-prepared, primed surface to maximize color accuracy and brightness, as this color is very pale and can be sensitive to undertones or substrate show-through. Evaluate under lighting conditions similar to your intended display to confirm visual brand alignment. For review or approvals, document your process and, if possible, compare next to an official Pantone swatch for reference.

To achieve consistent coverage with PMS 100 C across large areas, use a high-quality primer to prevent color variation from the substrate, especially since this color is very light. Plan for multiple thin coats to build up hide, avoiding heavy application that can cause unevenness. Spray application or well-loaded rollers support even results. Maintain a wet edge and work in manageable sections to avoid lap marks. Inspect under intended lighting to catch inconsistencies, as PMS 100 C can appear patchy if coverage is incomplete.

Ordering PMS 100 C paint means you will receive a custom-mixed coating matched to the standardized Pantone target for PMS 100 C, not an original Pantone formula or specific coating process. The color reference is visual; appearance will be close under typical conditions, but factors like material, finish, and lighting can affect how PMS 100 C looks. This match supports brand and marketing applications where visual alignment to the Pantone standard is the primary goal.

A primer is recommended whenever you are applying PMS 100 C over unpainted, dark, or uneven substrates. Because PMS 100 C is very pale with high light reflectance, a primer helps prevent background color from altering its appearance and ensures adhesion. For non-porous surfaces, metal, plastic, or MDF, select a primer compatible with both the substrate and the paint type you are using. Always follow primer instructions for best brand color results.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.

We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
