- Cecilia’s interest and ultimate love of design began in college-level art and color theory classes. Following her natural instincts, Cecilia developed a keen eye for color palettes and great design. Cecilia began her own design firm, A Darling Room, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with one goal in mind - to enhance the beauty and function of the spaces she designs. For Cecilia, the perfect design comes from a good eye AND a good ear. “A designer’s ability to hear the client’s desires is as important as their ability to foresee the future needs of the client. Great design should be forward-thinking and should always provide people with a comfortable, happy and inspiring home”, she says. Visit Cecilia's profile on MyPerfectColor. I recently opened an interesting email from Better Homes & Gardens whose topic was all things color. The article that grabbed my attention was titled something like “If you could only choose one color….” – and it really got me thinking! Is Brown the Best Neutral?
I’m not sure how colors get a reputation. Gray is cold, pink is girly, yellow is happy. When I hear people “categorize” colors like this I’m always reminded of the reputation that ‘browns’ used to have….brown = boring. But look at brown now – it’s been given titles like ‘the best neutral’ and ‘the new [...]

Design Inspiration….where do you get yours?
The other day a client asked me what kind of home I grew up in….specifically wondering if my Mom was “into” the whole decorating thing as I am. I told my client a bit about my childhood home, the colors, the furnishings, the overall feel of the home, and it caused me to stop and [...]
