RAL 6002 Leaf Green Paint

RAL 6002 defines the target color only. It does not specify coating type, sheen, or texture. To avoid misinterpretation and failed inspections, confirm these items before ordering:

• Coating technology and use: liquid (spray, brush, aerosol) for touch-up/field work, or factory powder coat; substrate and surface prep.
• Sheen/gloss: specify 60 degrees gloss (e.g., matte/satin/semi-gloss/gloss) or a numeric GU range.
• Texture: smooth vs fine/medium texture; orange peel acceptable or not.
• Acceptance basis: match to the RAL standard reference, or match to an existing coated part/OEM powder.
• Service conditions: interior/exterior, temperature/chemicals, drying/curing constraints, VOC limits, packaging/quantity.

Risk to manage: a liquid semi-gloss "RAL 6002" can look different from a matte textured powder part even if the color is on target. If acceptance is to an existing part or OEM finish, require a sample or OEM powder ID. If acceptance is to the RAL standard, specify the gloss/texture you want the RAL color delivered in.

Use the standard RAL 6002 match when:

• Cross-material coordination is expected (e.g., liquid touch-up on powder-coated parts) and slight sheen/texture differences are acceptable.
• Low-criticality repairs (chips, functional protection) where close visual harmony is sufficient.
• The acceptance criterion is "conforms to RAL 6002 standard," not to an existing, aged part.

Send a sample or OEM powder ID for a custom match when:

• High-visibility cosmetic surfaces or large-area repaints will be inspected under consistent lighting.
• You must match an existing coated part (which may be aged/faded) or a known OEM powder code with specific gloss/texture.
• Contract documents specify strict visual acceptance or require retain/approval panels.

Best practice: provide a flat sample at least 2×2 inches (unworn area) and note desired gloss/texture. Request an approval panel for signoff before production to reduce rework risk.

Before ordering, verify the exact code to avoid costly rework:

• Require the written 4digit code "RAL 6002" from the spec owner; do not rely on the color name alone.
• Confirm it's from the RAL Classic system (four digits). Similar greens exist (e.g., 6001, 6003, 6020); check for digit transpositions.
• Compare to a physical RAL K5/K7 fan deck under neutral lighting; do not use onscreen images for final confirmation.
• If parts already exist, compare them to the RAL deck. If they differ, treat the job as a sample/OEM match rather than a standard RAL match.
• Align purchase order, drawings, and labels to the same code and desired sheen/texture to lock acceptance criteria.
