PMS 7523 U is a Pantone PMS color, which means it is a visual color target, not a fixed paint formula. When reordering, the most reliable way to maintain consistency is to use the same product type, sheen, and application method each time.

For brand-critical work, keep an approved physical sample from your first order and use that same reference for future runs. Changes in substrate, finish, or gloss level can cause visible differences even when the Pantone code stays the same.

Yes, PMS 7523 U can be matched for metal parts, but surface preparation and the existing coating matter. Bare metal, primed metal, and previously powder-coated surfaces can all affect how the color appears once applied.

Gloss level and texture from a powder coat can shift the perceived depth and warmth of the Pantone match. For display or fabricated components, it is recommended to test the color on a prepared sample part before committing to a full production run.

PMS 7523 U, like all Pantone colors, can appear different depending on the light source and viewing environment. Daylight, LED, fluorescent, and warm interior lighting can each shift how the color is perceived.

For brand-facing applications, evaluate the color under the same lighting where it will be displayed or installed. Reviewing a physical sample in the actual environment helps avoid surprises caused by lighting-related color shifts.

Whether a primer is needed for PMS 7523 U depends on the substrate, the paint type, and the exposure conditions. Primers are often recommended for bare metal, plastics, or uneven surfaces to improve adhesion and create a uniform base color.

Using a consistent primer can also help the Pantone match appear more predictable, especially on darker or mixed substrates. When color accuracy is important, testing the full system including primer and topcoat is the safest approach.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.
