PMS 7479 U is part of the Pantone PMS system and is commonly specified as a visual color target for branded environments, displays, and marketing elements. It conveys a clean, modern, and technical vibe with aquatic, refreshing, and controlled characteristics.
The color has a mid-range lightness with an LRV of 46.72 and reads as cool, leaning toward a blue-green hue. It shows relatively high saturation and carries a subtle cyan undertone that keeps the color crisp rather than muted.
PMS 7479 U works well in brand-facing applications where clarity and color accuracy are more important than concealment. As a saturated blue-green, it may require additional coats for even coverage, and consistent surface preparation and lighting evaluation can help avoid uneven appearance or shifts in perceived intensity.
Similar colors:
PMS 7478 U: slightly lighter and less saturated, with a softer blue-green appearance.
PMS 7480 U: darker and marginally more subdued, with increased visual weight.
PMS 7710 U: cooler and more blue-leaning, with reduced green influence.

You should always order using the full Pantone code exactly as specified, in this case PMS 7479 U. The name alone is not a reliable ordering reference because Pantone colors are defined by their numeric code and suffix.
The "U" suffix indicates the uncoated Pantone reference. Ordering PMS 7479 without the U or substituting a different series can result in a different target color. For brand and display applications, using the complete code helps ensure the paint is matched to the correct Pantone standard.
The finish choice can noticeably change how PMS 7479 U appears. Gloss finishes typically increase perceived saturation and brightness, which can help the color read stronger at a distance or under lower lighting.
Matte finishes reduce glare and reflections, which can be useful for close viewing or brightly lit environments, but they may make the color appear slightly flatter. When brand accuracy is critical, consider where and how the painted surface will be viewed before selecting a finish.
No. Pantone PMS colors like PMS 7479 U are independent color standards and do not have exact equivalents in most other paint brand collections.
While some tools attempt to suggest approximate matches, these are estimates and can vary significantly, especially for vivid or saturated Pantone colors. For brand-facing work, the Pantone PMS reference itself should be treated as the target rather than relying on a converted color from another system.
PMS 7479 U is a saturated Pantone color, and colors in this range often have lower hide than neutral tones. You should plan for multiple coats to achieve even coverage and consistent color appearance.
Using an appropriate undercoat can improve uniformity and reduce the total number of topcoats needed. Testing the full system on your actual substrate is recommended, especially for high-visibility brand applications where coverage consistency matters.
Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 7479 U in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
