Pantone™ PMS Warm Gray 1 U

PMS Warm Gray 1 U is a Pantone reference color, not a paint formula. Pantone books are printed on specific paper with controlled ink and finish, while paint is applied to real surfaces with different textures and sheens. Because of this, the painted result may not look identical to the Pantone book chip, even when accurately matched.

For brand-critical projects, evaluate a painted sample of PMS Warm Gray 1 U on your actual substrate and under your installed lighting. This is the best way to confirm acceptance before full production.

PMS Warm Gray 1 U is a light, low-chroma gray, which generally provides more predictable coverage than highly saturated Pantone colors. Even so, coverage is influenced by the substrate color and texture.

Using a neutral, uniform undercoat helps ensure even appearance and reduces the risk of show-through. Plan for multiple coats to achieve consistent color, especially on porous or high-contrast surfaces.

Surface texture changes how light reflects off PMS Warm Gray 1 U. Smooth surfaces tend to appear cleaner and slightly brighter, while textured or uneven surfaces can make the same color appear darker or less uniform.

Because Warm Gray 1 U is subtle, texture-related shadowing can be noticeable. Always review a sample on the final material to confirm that the texture produces the desired visual result.

For reliable results with PMS Warm Gray 1 U, start with a clean surface free of dust, oils, and residues. Degrease where needed and allow the surface to dry fully.

Light scuffing can improve adhesion on smooth materials. Always apply a small test area to confirm adhesion and appearance before proceeding with full application.

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
