PMS 9542 U is a Pantone PMS color specified within the Pantone Matching System for consistent visual communication. It appears as a soft, light green that feels fresh, restrained, and contemporary in brand and marketing contexts.
The color is light in value, with an LRV of 68.01, and carries a slightly cool green tendency. Its low saturation keeps the appearance muted and controlled, with a subtle green undertone that avoids strong yellow or blue influence.
PMS 9542 U performs well in signage, displays, and branded environments where a calm green is preferred over more vivid hues. Because it is light in value, underlying surface color and preparation can affect uniformity, and lighting and finish choice may shift how fresh or neutral the green appears once applied.
Similar colors:
PMS 9541 U: slightly lighter and softer, with a more subdued green presence.
PMS 9543 U: marginally darker with a touch more green definition.
Pantone 559 U: more yellow-leaning and warmer, with a less neutral appearance.

PMS 9542 U is a Pantone color reference, not a paint product. Safety, VOC content, and handling requirements depend on the specific paint format you choose, such as spray paint, epoxy, or urethane.
Before use, review the Safety Data Sheet for the exact product you are ordering and follow the manufacturer guidelines for ventilation, personal protective equipment, and surface preparation. Do not assume VOC levels or safety characteristics based only on the Pantone code.
The choice between matte and gloss will change how PMS 9542 U is perceived. Matte finishes reduce glare and can appear softer under strong lighting, while gloss finishes increase color punch and saturation but can show reflections.
Viewing distance, lighting type, and the role of the surface in your display all matter. For brand-critical applications, it is recommended to test PMS 9542 U in both finishes on the actual substrate before committing to production.
Pantone books are printed color references, while paint matched to PMS 9542 U is a coating applied to a real surface. Differences in sheen, substrate, film thickness, and lighting mean the painted color may not look identical to the book chip.
Use the Pantone book as a visual target, not an absolute guarantee. For high-visibility brand work, sample PMS 9542 U on the actual material and review it under installed lighting before final approval.
PMS 9542 U can be matched in paints intended for plastics, but plastics vary widely in surface energy and adhesion behavior. Some materials may require specific primers or surface treatments to achieve proper bonding.
Always test the PMS 9542 U paint system on the exact plastic used in your project before production. This helps confirm adhesion, appearance, and durability for your specific application.
Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

To make spray paint matched to Pantone PMS 9542 U. MyPerfectColor uses an acrylic enamel which is a fast-drying durable coating suitable for interior or exterior use. MyPerfectColor custom spray paint enables you to conveniently achieve a professional spray-smooth finish in any color in any sheen. It sticks well to most surfaces including metal, plastics, powder-coatings, cabinets and primed or previously painted wood.

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 9542 U in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
