PMS 559 U is a Pantone Matching System color commonly specified for brand and environmental applications where a soft, controlled blue-green is required. The overall impression is calm, airy, clean, restrained, and professional rather than vivid or expressive.
The color appears light in value, with an LRV of 62.18. It reads as cool and blue-green in direction, with low chroma that keeps the appearance muted and softened. A subtle aqua undertone with slight gray influence reduces visual intensity.
PMS 559 U works well in brand environments, displays, and built elements where a quiet, non-distracting color presence supports graphics or messaging. Because of its lightness and low saturation, careful surface preparation and priming can help achieve even results, and finish and lighting should be evaluated to confirm the intended appearance.
Similar colors:
PMS 558 U: slightly darker and more subdued, with increased gray influence.
PMS 560 U: deeper and cooler, with more visual weight and reduced openness.
PMS 5523 U: lighter and more neutral, with less blue-green clarity.

PMS 559 U is a Pantone reference standard, not a paint formula. Your Pantone book shows the target color on a specific paper under controlled conditions. Paint made to PMS 559 U is a visual match to that reference, but the appearance can change based on sheen, substrate, film thickness, and lighting.
Uncoated Pantone colors like PMS 559 U often look different once applied as paint, especially on non-paper materials. For brand-critical projects, apply a sample to the actual material and view it under the installed lighting before approving full production.
The Safety Data Sheet is tied to the specific paint product, not the Pantone color itself. PMS 559 U defines the color target, but the SDS depends on whether you choose spray paint, a brush-applied coating, or another available format.
After selecting the product type for PMS 559 U, you can access the corresponding SDS in the SDS library for that product. If you are evaluating compliance, confirm the SDS for the exact product you plan to order.
Coverage and hide for PMS 559 U depend on the substrate, primer choice, and application method. While this color is not extremely vivid, Pantone-matched colors can still require more than one coat to achieve an even, brand-accurate appearance.
For consistent results, use a compatible primer and plan for test applications. Evaluating coverage on your actual material helps confirm the number of coats needed before committing to a full run.
Paint matched to PMS 559 U is made to order. Production time varies based on the selected product type, order size, and current production volume.
Because Pantone colors are custom-matched, they usually require additional processing time compared to off-the-shelf paints. If your project has a fixed deadline, confirm lead time after selecting the specific product format to avoid schedule risk.
Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

To make spray paint matched to Pantone PMS 559 U. MyPerfectColor uses an acrylic enamel which is a fast-drying durable coating suitable for interior or exterior use. MyPerfectColor custom spray paint enables you to conveniently achieve a professional spray-smooth finish in any color in any sheen. It sticks well to most surfaces including metal, plastics, powder-coatings, cabinets and primed or previously painted wood.
The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.
While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 559 U in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
