PMS 641 U is a Pantone PMS color that appears as a muted, medium-dark blue with a controlled, professional presence. It conveys a cool, steady vibe that reads as calm, restrained, technical, dependable, and understated rather than vivid or expressive.
The color presents as a darker blue with a measured lightness, with an LRV of 11.87. This color reads clearly cool, with no visible warmth, and the saturation is moderate, appearing controlled rather than bright.
The undertone leans toward a slightly gray-blue, softening contrast and glare. This contributes to a more restrained appearance compared to brighter blues.
PMS 641 U works well in brand-facing environments where a cooler blue is needed without high visual intensity, such as backdrops, panels, or structural display elements. Its lower lightness means surface preparation and consistent film build can help avoid patchiness, especially on lighter or uneven substrates.
Finish choice and lighting can influence perceived depth, with glossier finishes increasing contrast and matte finishes muting saturation.
Similar colors:
PMS 640 C: lighter and slightly more open, with increased brightness.
PMS 642 C: darker and more subdued, with reduced blue clarity.
PMS 639 C: lighter and more neutral, with less visual weight.

PMS 641 U is a Pantone PMS reference, which means it defines a visual color target rather than a specific paint formula. For prototypes and concept models, start by choosing a paint format that matches how the model will be built and viewed, such as spray paint for even coverage on forms or brush-applied options for small components.
Plan to evaluate the color on the actual substrate used in the prototype, under the lighting where it will be reviewed. This helps confirm that the PMS 641 U match meets brand expectations before committing to larger runs or more permanent materials.
Sheen affects how light reflects off the surface and can change how PMS 641 U appears. Higher sheen finishes reflect more light and can make the color look brighter or more saturated, while lower sheen finishes absorb more light and can make it appear slightly darker.
Choose sheen based on viewing distance, lighting, and the visual role of the piece. For close-up viewing or strong lighting, testing the color in the selected sheen is recommended so the perceived PMS 641 U appearance aligns with brand review expectations.
Yes. Surface texture can noticeably affect the appearance of PMS 641 U. Smooth surfaces tend to show the color more evenly, while textured or porous surfaces create shadows and variations that can make the same color look darker, lighter, or less uniform.
If the project involves multiple textures, it is important to review PMS 641 U on each substrate. This helps avoid surprises when the same Pantone color is applied across different materials in a display or prototype.
PMS 641 U paint is custom matched to the Pantone reference and made to order. Because of this, it is important to confirm the correct color code, paint format, and sheen before ordering.
If the application is high visibility or requires formal brand approval, ordering a sample first is a practical step. This allows you to review the PMS 641 U match on the intended substrate and under real lighting, reducing the risk of needing changes after production.
Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

To make spray paint matched to Pantone PMS 641 U. MyPerfectColor uses an acrylic enamel which is a fast-drying durable coating suitable for interior or exterior use. MyPerfectColor custom spray paint enables you to conveniently achieve a professional spray-smooth finish in any color in any sheen. It sticks well to most surfaces including metal, plastics, powder-coatings, cabinets and primed or previously painted wood.
The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.
While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 641 U in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
