Pantone™ PMS 5835 U

Pantone PMS 5835 U is best treated as a visual color target when building prototypes or concept models. Start by choosing a paint format that matches how the prototype will be viewed, such as spray paint for even coverage on display surfaces or paint pens for smaller details.

Before final fabrication, apply the color to a sample of the actual substrate and review it under the same lighting where the prototype will be evaluated. This helps confirm that the visual match meets brand expectations before committing to larger quantities.

When applying Pantone PMS 5835 U over larger areas, plan for consistent application technique to avoid visible variation. Apply multiple light coats rather than fewer heavy coats, allowing proper flash time between coats.

Maintain the same spray distance, overlap, and direction across the entire surface. Because Pantone colors can vary in hide, testing coverage on a sample panel first helps estimate the number of coats needed for a uniform appearance.

Repeat orders of Pantone PMS 5835 U are matched to the same Pantone reference, but visual consistency depends on ordering the same product type and sheen each time. Changes in format or finish can alter how the color appears.

For best consistency, keep a physical approval sample from your original project and compare new batches under the same lighting conditions. This approach helps maintain predictable results across reorders.

Select the paint type for Pantone PMS 5835 U based on where the finished piece will be used. Interior applications typically prioritize appearance and smoothness, while exterior uses require a coating designed to handle exposure to weather and sunlight.

Even when the Pantone color target stays the same, interior and exterior paint types can look slightly different once applied. Reviewing a sample in the intended environment is the safest way to confirm acceptance before ordering production quantities.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.
