PMS 580 U is a Pantone PMS color commonly specified as a brand and identity reference rather than a paint formula. It presents as a light, muted yellow-green with a fresh, approachable, calm, and understated vibe suitable for brand-facing environments.
The color reads as light, with an LRV of 68.01, and leans slightly warm due to its yellow-green hue. It shows low to moderate saturation with a subtle green undertone that softens the overall appearance.
PMS 580 U works well in brand environments that need a light, fresh green tone without high saturation, such as display elements, panels, or supporting surfaces. Because of its lightness, contrast with darker substrates can show through, so a light primer and consistent surface preparation can help achieve even coverage. Finish and lighting can influence whether the color appears greener or more yellow, so evaluation under installed lighting is recommended.
Similar colors:
PMS 579 U: lighter and more yellow, with less green influence.
PMS 581 U: darker and more grounded, with increased olive character.
PMS 585 U: brighter and more yellow, with higher visual energy.

When specifying Pantone PMS 580 U for a retail or pop-up environment, plan to evaluate the color under the actual lighting where it will be installed. Lighting type and intensity can noticeably change how this Pantone green is perceived.
For larger or high-visibility installations, order a sample first and review it on the intended substrate. This helps confirm coverage, visual consistency, and brand acceptance before committing to full production.
Whether a primer is needed for Pantone PMS 580 U depends on the substrate, the paint format selected, and the exposure conditions. New, porous, or uneven surfaces often benefit from a compatible primer to improve adhesion and color uniformity.
If you are applying PMS 580 U to a previously coated or non-porous surface, primer requirements may differ. Reviewing substrate-specific guidance before ordering helps avoid coverage issues or unexpected color variation.
PMS 580 U is a specific Pantone PMS code, not just a descriptive color name. The code defines the exact Pantone color target that the paint will be matched to.
Always order using the full Pantone code including the U suffix, since different Pantone series or finishes can represent different color targets. Using the precise code helps prevent receiving a match to the wrong reference.
Paint matched to Pantone PMS 580 U is made to order rather than pulled from stock. Production time can vary based on the paint format selected and current production volume.
For projects with fixed installation or launch dates, it is best to account for production time and shipping when planning your order. Ordering samples early can also help keep larger schedules on track.
Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

It sticks well to most surfaces including metal, plastics, powder-coatings, cabinets and primed or previously painted wood.

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 580 U in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
