PMS 5753 U is a Pantone PMS color defined as a dark, subdued green with a grounded, organic feel. In brand and marketing environments, it supports a calm, restrained visual presence rather than a vivid or decorative one.

The color reads dark, with an LRV of 12.51, and carries a cool-leaning green appearance with subtle yellow-green influence. Its saturation is moderate to low, giving it a muted look, and an earthy undertone can introduce an olive cast depending on lighting. Higher-sheen finishes may highlight surface variation, while lower sheens tend to keep the color visually uniform.

This color is well suited to signage, displays, and structural brand elements where a serious, natural green is desired. Even surface preparation and application can help maintain consistency, particularly over lighter or contrasting substrates. Because lighting can shift its appearance toward greener or more olive tones, reviewing a painted sample in the intended environment is advisable.

Similar colors:

PMS 5757 U: darker and more neutral, with reduced green clarity.
PMS 5743 U: lighter and slightly warmer, with a softer olive appearance.
PMS 5605 U: cooler and more subdued, with a grayer overall cast.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 5753 U

How accurate is a paint match to Pantone PMS 5753 U, and what should I expect?

Pantone PMS 5753 U is a visual color standard from the Pantone Uncoated guide, not a paint formula. Any paint matched to PMS 5753 U is an interpretation intended to visually align with the Pantone reference under typical viewing conditions.

Perceived accuracy can vary based on finish, lighting, substrate, and application method. Uncoated Pantone colors can appear different once applied as paint, especially on non-paper surfaces. For high-visibility or brand-critical uses, reviewing a physical sample under your actual lighting and on your intended substrate is the best way to confirm acceptance before full production.

How much area does one spray can of PMS 5753 U cover?

As a general planning estimate, one spray can of paint matched to PMS 5753 U typically covers about 10 to 12 square feet per coat. Actual coverage depends on surface texture, porosity, spray technique, and the number of coats required.

More saturated Pantone colors can require additional coats for uniform hide, especially over dark or uneven substrates. For critical projects, ordering extra cans is recommended to account for test sprays, overlap, and coverage variability.

Are there VOC or safety considerations when using paint matched to PMS 5753 U?

VOC levels and safety requirements depend on the specific paint product and format selected, not the Pantone color itself. Paints matched to PMS 5753 U may vary in VOC content, ventilation needs, and handling precautions.

Always review the Safety Data Sheet for the exact product you order and follow recommended application, ventilation, and personal protective guidance. This is especially important when spraying or working in enclosed areas.

Do I need a primer before applying paint matched to PMS 5753 U?

Whether a primer is needed before applying paint matched to PMS 5753 U depends on the substrate, the paint type, and the exposure conditions. Bare, porous, glossy, or previously coated surfaces often benefit from a compatible primer to improve adhesion and color uniformity.

Using the correct primer can also reduce the number of topcoats needed, which is helpful for saturated Pantone colors. If substrate conditions or performance requirements are uncertain, testing the full system on a small area is advised.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 5753 U?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 5753 U depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. Can I use the Pantone PMS 5753 U for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
