PMS 5545 C from the Pantone Matching System is a subdued, cool-toned bluish green with a restrained and technical appearance. The color reads as stable, muted, conservative, and understated, featuring a medium-dark lightness and low to moderate chroma. Its character lends itself to functional, professional environments, supporting applications that require a sophisticated yet unobtrusive statement. This color is widely referenced in marketing, display fabrication, and industrial design contexts where consistent color specification is vital.

PMS 5545 C appears medium-dark in value, as indicated by its LRV of 13.16. The color shows a cool cast, with a noticeable blue-green hue. PMS 5545 C has low to moderate saturation, resulting in a muted and less vibrant effect. The undertone is cool with a gentle blue emphasis, which can be further accentuated depending on ambient lighting. The color typically maintains its muted appearance across different finishes, but gloss levels may influence perceived depth or subtlety.

PMS 5545 C performs well in environments where a restrained, professional appearance is required. This color works best on clean, well-prepared surfaces to avoid amplification of any imperfections due to its muted yet dark character. Lighting conditions can influence its blue-green balance, so on-site sampling in final lighting is strongly recommended. Compared to similar colors, PMS 5545 C offers a more subdued, less saturated presence, providing visual stability without drawing undue attention or overwhelming adjacent colors.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 5545 C

What does it mean to order PMS 5545 C paint as a Pantone match?

Ordering PMS 5545 C as a Pantone match means you are requesting a paint formulated to visually match the standardized Pantone PMS 5545 C color target. The PMS code is a visual reference, not a universal formula, and does not specify a particular paint type, finish, or application process. You are purchasing a color match based on the Pantone standard, intended for consistent brand and display use across various projects and substrates.

What product formats are available if I need PMS 5545 C for my project?

PMS 5545 C is available in multiple paint formats to suit brand, display, and industrial design needs. You can typically order custom spray paint, paint pens, brush-in-cap bottles, epoxy, urethane, and interior or exterior housepaint. Choose the format that best matches your application method and project requirements. For surface testing or detail work, smaller sizes like paint pens and bottles may be useful. For larger branding or fabrication jobs, spray paint or bulk coatings are often preferred.

How should I compare color samples to the Pantone PMS 5545 C standard during approval?

To accurately compare samples to Pantone PMS 5545 C, use consistent lighting and view both the standard and your sample side by side. Make sure you are using the same substrate type and finish for both the reference and the sample being evaluated. Allow any coatings to dry and fully cure before making a final judgment, as color can shift during drying. Assess the color in the actual environment where it will be used, as lighting can impact its blue-green balance and overall appearance.

What are the best practices to maintain uniform appearance when applying PMS 5545 C over a large area?

For consistent results with PMS 5545 C across large surfaces, use the same application method and product batch throughout your project. Plan your coats to avoid overlaps and patchiness, making sure each layer dries according to instructions before applying the next. Work systematically across sections for even coverage. Since PMS 5545 C is a muted, medium-dark color, ensure the surface is properly cleaned and prepared to avoid unevenness that may be more noticeable due to its subtle character.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 5545 C?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 5545 C depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. Can I use the Pantone PMS 5545 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

How do I convert PMS 5545 C to a different color from another paint company?

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 5545 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information.
