Pantone™ PMS 5425 U

PMS 5425 U is a Pantone Matching System color used as a visual reference to create consistent brand experiences. It defines a target color appearance so different vendors and materials can reproduce the same look for signage, displays, prototypes, and branded environments.

It is important to understand that PMS 5425 U is not a paint formula or finish specification. It is a communication standard that helps align color across marketing and display components.

PMS 5425 U should not be used when you need touch-up-grade accuracy to an existing painted surface. Pantone colors are intended for brand color reproduction, not for matching aged coatings, factory finishes, or unknown substrates.

If precise visual blending with an existing part is required, the correct path is to send a physical part for custom color matching. This allows the match to be evaluated directly against the real surface instead of a Pantone reference.

Durability for spray paint matched to PMS 5425 U depends on the paint type selected, surface preparation, and whether a clear topcoat is used. The Pantone code defines color only and does not determine performance.

For branding and display applications, choose the paint chemistry based on how the piece will be handled and where it will be used. Environmental exposure, abrasion, and cleaning requirements should guide the product selection.

Select the paint type for PMS 5425 U based on where the finished piece will live, not on the Pantone code itself. Interior applications typically prioritize appearance and controlled lighting, while exterior uses require coatings designed for weather exposure.

If the project spans multiple environments, confirm the color appearance on each substrate and paint type before full production. Finish and sheen choices can change how PMS 5425 U is perceived under different lighting conditions.

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.
