PMS 5265 U is a Pantone PMS color used as a precise color target in brand and marketing contexts. It conveys a controlled, serious, and contemporary violet character with a low-lightness presence and minimal brightness.
The color appears very dark, with an LRV of 5.1. It reads cool, leaning toward a blue-influenced violet, and shows moderate saturation rather than a vivid or electric intensity. The undertone remains muted, with minimal red warmth.
This color works well when a deep violet is needed without high visual brightness, such as in controlled lighting environments or brand elements that should feel understated. Because of its darkness, surface preparation and uniform application can significantly influence perceived depth, and lighter primers can help reduce patchiness on high-contrast substrates. Compared to brighter purples, it appears heavier and more reserved, particularly in matte or low-sheen finishes.
Similar colors:
Pantone 526 U: slightly lighter and less dense, with a softer violet presence.
Pantone 527 U: darker and more subdued, with reduced chroma and depth.
Pantone 2613 U: more saturated and clearer, with a stronger purple signal.

No. PMS 5265 U is a Pantone Matching System reference, not a paint company formula. Most paint brands have their own independent color systems, and there is usually no exact equivalent for a Pantone color.
Cross-reference charts or automated conversions can be misleading, especially for saturated Pantone hues like PMS 5265 U. If brand accuracy matters, the Pantone standard should be used as the visual target rather than attempting to match a different brand's closest color name or code.
Yes. Paint matched to PMS 5265 U is custom made based on the Pantone reference. Because it is produced specifically for your order, it is important to confirm the paint type, finish or sheen, and quantity before ordering.
If the application is high visibility or requires approval, ordering a sample first can help confirm appearance under your lighting and on your substrate. Careful selection up front helps avoid delays or rework after production.
PMS 5265 U is a saturated Pantone color, and colors in this range can have lower hide than neutral tones. This means additional coats may be required to achieve a uniform, solid appearance.
Substrate color, primer choice, and finish all affect coverage. For critical brand-facing applications, testing on the actual surface helps set realistic expectations for coat count and final appearance.
If you are unsure which paint type is best for PMS 5265 U, you can contact MyPerfectColor for guidance. Providing details about the substrate, environment, exposure, and desired finish allows the team to recommend an appropriate product.
This step is especially helpful for branded displays, signage, or multi-material projects where appearance and durability expectations need to be aligned before ordering.
Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 5265 U in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
