PMS 5145 U is a Pantone PMS color specified within the Pantone Matching System and commonly used in brand, marketing, and display contexts. It conveys a restrained, composed vibe with characteristics that read as muted, warm-leaning, subdued, balanced, and refined rather than vivid.
The color presents as a mid-depth tone with an LRV of 24.93. It leans warm within the red-violet range and shows moderate chroma, appearing softened rather than highly saturated.
The color carries a subtle rose-mauve undertone that reduces sharpness and visual intensity.
PMS 5145 U works well in brand environments where a calm, sophisticated red-violet is preferred over brighter magentas or reds. Because it is moderately dark and muted, uneven substrates or high-contrast surfaces may still show through without proper priming.
Finish selection can influence how soft or dense the color appears, and testing under installed lighting is recommended. Compared to brighter pinks or purples, this color reads more controlled and less reactive to lighting shifts.

When approving PMS 5145 U, compare samples under the same lighting where the final piece will be used. Use the same substrate type and surface preparation for all samples, since texture and absorbency can shift how the color appears.
Allow the paint to fully dry and cure before judging the match. Freshly applied coatings can look darker or glossier than they will after curing. Make sure you are comparing against the correct Pantone reference for PMS 5145 U and avoid mixing coated samples from different paint types or sheens during approval.
To order PMS 5145 U, start by selecting the paint format that fits your project, such as spray paint or another available paint type. Next, choose the sheen and quantity you need. These choices matter because sheen and product type affect how the color is perceived.
Before placing your order, confirm that PMS 5145 U is the correct Pantone reference and that it matches your approval target. If this is a brand-critical application, consider ordering a sample first so the color can be reviewed in your actual lighting and on your intended substrate.
PMS 5145 U is matched to the Pantone standard, but small visual differences can occur between batches, especially if you change paint type, sheen, or application method. For the most consistent results, reorder the same product type and sheen and apply it in a similar way.
Keeping an approved sample from your original PMS 5145 U order helps set expectations for future runs. Using the same lighting and comparison method during approval will also reduce surprises on repeat orders.
The SDS is based on the paint product itself, not the Pantone color code. This means PMS 5145 U does not have a unique SDS.
After selecting the specific paint type for PMS 5145 U, you can find the corresponding SDS in the SDS library for that product. Always reference the SDS that matches the exact paint format you are ordering.
Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 5145 U in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
