PMS 4715 U is a Pantone PMS color defined as a warm, low-lightness brown with an earthy and muted visual character. It conveys a grounded, organic presence and is often selected when visual weight and warmth are desired without strong saturation.

The color appears dark, with an LRV of 19.28, and carries warm yellow-orange undertones. Its moderate saturation keeps it from appearing vivid, while the earthy undertone softens contrast and sharp edges.

PMS 4715 U performs well in brand-facing displays, exhibit components, and architectural elements that benefit from a natural or heritage-oriented tone. Because darker warm browns can emphasize surface variation, careful surface preparation and consistent application can help achieve a uniform appearance, particularly in higher-sheen finishes.

Similar colors:

PMS 471 U: slightly lighter and more open, with a softer brown appearance.
PMS 472 U: warmer and more orange-forward, with increased warmth.
PMS 7510 U: darker and more neutral, with reduced warmth and chroma.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 4715 U

Why does PMS 4715 U look different in matte versus gloss finishes even when the Pantone color is the same?

PMS 4715 U is a Pantone color target, not a finish specification. Changing the sheen can change how the color is perceived, even when the match is made to the same Pantone reference.

Glossier finishes reflect more light, which can make PMS 4715 U appear darker, richer, or more saturated. Matte or low-sheen finishes scatter light and can look lighter or flatter by comparison.

When evaluating PMS 4715 U, compare samples in the same finish and under similar lighting to avoid thinking the color itself is different.

How should PMS 4715 U spray paint be applied for the most even color appearance?

For PMS 4715 U, apply multiple light coats rather than one heavy coat. This helps the color build evenly and reduces the risk of runs or uneven sheen.

Allow each coat to flash off before applying the next. Exact timing varies based on conditions like temperature and airflow, so the surface should feel dry to the touch before continuing.

Building color gradually improves uniformity and helps achieve a consistent brand-facing appearance.

What does PMS 4715 U represent in terms of brand color usage?

PMS 4715 U is part of the Pantone Matching System, which is used to define brand colors consistently across different vendors and materials.

Brands specify PMS colors like PMS 4715 U so logos, displays, signage, and environments maintain a recognizable and unified appearance.

The Pantone code communicates the visual color target, while the final appearance can still vary based on material, finish, and lighting.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 4715 U for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 4715 U in paint, we don't provide any crossover information.
