Pantone™ PMS 425 U

When using Pantone PMS 425 U in pop-ups or retail installations, plan to evaluate the color under the actual lighting where it will be installed. Lighting type and intensity can noticeably change how this Pantone color is perceived. For larger or high-visibility elements, it is recommended to order a sample first and review it on the intended substrate after the coating has fully dried. This helps reduce approval risk before committing to full production.

A standard Pantone PMS match for PMS 425 U is appropriate when the Pantone reference itself is the color target. This is common for brand-facing displays, signage, exhibits, and prototypes where visual alignment to the Pantone system matters more than matching an existing painted surface. If your brand guidelines specify PMS 425 U, a standard match is typically the correct ordering choice.

Compare PMS 425 U samples under consistent lighting and on the same type of substrate whenever possible. Allow the paint to fully dry before making a final judgment, as color can shift slightly during curing. Viewing both the Pantone reference and the painted sample side by side in neutral lighting helps ensure a more reliable approval decision.

Undercoats and the number of coats can affect how evenly PMS 425 U appears, especially on contrasting substrates. Using a consistent undercoat and planning for multiple coats can improve uniformity and visual consistency. This is best confirmed with a sample on your actual material before final production.

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.

We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
