Pantone™ PMS 394 U

PMS 394 U is a Pantone color target, not a finish specification. When the same color target is produced in different sheens, the way light reflects off the surface changes. A glossier finish typically appears brighter and more saturated, while a matte or low-sheen finish can appear softer or slightly darker.

This means two samples matched to PMS 394 U can look different side by side if the finishes are not the same. When evaluating a match, always compare samples in the same finish and under similar lighting to avoid thinking the color itself is incorrect.

When using PMS 394 U across larger surfaces, uniform application matters as much as color accuracy. Apply consistent coat thickness, maintain steady spray distance or stroke technique, and plan for enough material to complete the entire area without stopping mid-surface.

Saturated Pantone colors can show variation if coverage is uneven. Testing on the actual substrate and allowing full dry time between coats helps confirm appearance before committing to a full installation.

PMS 394 U is part of the Pantone Matching System, which is a licensed color communication standard. Licensed reproduction means the color is matched using authorized Pantone references rather than an approximate or visually guessed version.

This matters for brand-facing work where PMS 394 U must align with official Pantone specifications. Using an authorized reproduction helps reduce risk when multiple vendors or materials are involved in the same brand environment.

Start by selecting PMS 394 U as your color target. Then choose the paint format that fits your application, such as spray paint or another available option for branding and display use.

Next, select the finish, quantity, and any relevant options. If appearance is critical, consider ordering a sample first to review the color under your lighting and on your substrate before placing a larger order.

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.

We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
