PMS 3425 U is a Pantone Matching System color used as a precise specification target for brand and identity work. It conveys a deep, cool, restrained blue-green presence with a serious, institutional, and grounded visual character.

The color appears very dark, with a low LRV of 9.01, and reads clearly cool in most lighting. It maintains high saturation despite its darkness, with a clean teal-green undertone and minimal gray influence.

PMS 3425 U works well where strong brand presence is required without high brightness, such as signage, dimensional letters, exhibit components, and branded fixtures. Because of its depth, careful surface preparation and consistent application can help avoid visible variations caused by sheen or substrate irregularities.

The following examples reflect commonly cited branding associations and are based on publicly referenced design usage; they are illustrative, not exhaustive or exclusive. This color is widely cited in branding literature as part of institutional and corporate identity systems seeking stability and credibility, and is commonly referenced in environmental branding for organizations that emphasize heritage, trust, or formality.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 3425 U

Will PMS 3425 U look different if I choose a matte finish versus gloss?

Yes. PMS 3425 U is matched to the same Pantone color target regardless of finish, but changing sheen can noticeably affect how the color is perceived.

Glossier finishes tend to look darker and more saturated because they reflect light more directly. Matte or flat finishes scatter light, which can make PMS 3425 U appear lighter or less vivid. When comparing samples, a matte PMS 3425 U and a gloss PMS 3425 U can look like different colors even though they are matched to the same Pantone reference.

If visual approval is critical, especially for brand-facing work, evaluate the color in the same finish and lighting conditions planned for the final application.

Where can I find the SDS for paint made in PMS 3425 U?

The Safety Data Sheet is tied to the specific paint product and chemistry, not to the Pantone color code itself.

When ordering PMS 3425 U, first select the paint type or format you are using, such as spray paint or another coating. The SDS for that product can be found in the SDS library for the selected paint system.

If you need an SDS for compliance or jobsite documentation, make sure you download the SDS that matches the exact product you ordered in PMS 3425 U.

When is ordering a standard Pantone PMS 3425 U match the right choice?

A standard PMS 3425 U match is appropriate when the Pantone reference itself is the color target. This is common for brand-facing applications such as displays, signage, exhibits, prototypes, and marketing installations.

If your goal is visual alignment to Pantone PMS 3425 U rather than matching an existing painted surface, a standard match is typically the correct approach.

For large or high-visibility projects, or when final appearance must be approved under installed lighting, ordering a sample first is recommended to confirm coverage, finish, and perceived color.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 3425 U?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 3425 U depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. Most expedited production orders ship within 24 hours on business days. Please contact MyPerfectColor if you are concerned about a specific deadline. Can I use the Pantone PMS 3425 U for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 3425 U in paint, we don't provide any crossover information.
