Pantone™ PMS 342 U

Yes. PMS 342 U targets the same Pantone color regardless of finish, but the sheen can change how the color is perceived. A gloss or semi-gloss finish reflects more light, which can make PMS 342 U appear deeper, darker, or more saturated. A matte or flat finish absorbs more light, which can make the same color look softer or less vivid.

Because Pantone is a visual reference standard, comparing PMS 342 U samples in different finishes can look like a color difference even when the color target is the same. If appearance is critical, evaluate samples in the actual finish and lighting conditions where the paint will be used.

PMS 342 U is available as custom spray paint and other paint formats used for branding and display applications. Common options include spray paint, paint pens, and brush-in-cap bottles. Some coatings such as epoxy, urethane, or interior and exterior housepaint may also be offered depending on the application.

Choosing the right format depends on how the color will be applied. Spray paint is typically used for even coverage on displays or fabricated parts, while paint pens or small bottles are better for detail work or small components. The Pantone code defines the color target, not the application method.

Paint matched to PMS 342 U is made to order. Production lead time depends on the product format selected, order size, and current production volume. Spray paint and other custom-mixed formats are not pulled from shelf stock.

If your project has a fixed deadline, plan time for production and shipping, and consider ordering a sample first when formal brand approval or on-site evaluation is required.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 342 U in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
