PMS 1365 U is a Pantone PMS color specified as a standardized reference for brand and marketing applications. It appears as a vivid yellow with an energetic, attention-forward look that supports clear brand recognition in displays and fabricated elements.

The color reads mid-light, with an LRV of 56.7, and carries a warm yellow character without green or orange drift. Its high saturation contributes to strong brightness and impact, while the undertone remains clean and sunny.

PMS 1365 U performs well in signage, exhibits, and experiential environments where visibility is important. Because of its saturation, even appearance may require good surface preparation and sufficient coats, and lighting conditions can noticeably influence how bright the color appears.

Similar colors:

Pantone 136 C: slightly brighter and more vivid, with a crisper yellow appearance.
Pantone 1375 U: deeper and warmer, with more orange influence.
Pantone 1355 U: lighter and softer, with reduced saturation and visual intensity.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 1365 U

How closely should PMS 1365 U paint match what I see in a Pantone book?

PMS 1365 U is a Pantone reference standard, not a paint formula. Pantone books are printed on paper under controlled conditions, while paint is applied to real substrates with a specific sheen. Because of this, a paint matched to PMS 1365 U may not look identical to the book chip, especially in brightness and saturation.

For brand-facing work, the correct approach is to treat the Pantone book as the visual target and then confirm the paint appearance on your actual material and under your actual lighting. Ordering a sample and reviewing it in context is the best way to set expectations before full production.

How closely should PMS 1365 U paint match my Pantone book, and what differences are normal?

PMS 1365 U is a Pantone reference color, not a paint formula. Pantone books are printed ink standards viewed on paper, while paint is applied to real substrates with a specific sheen. Because of this, some visual difference is normal when you compare painted PMS 1365 U to a Pantone book chip.

Sheen, surface texture, film thickness, and lighting all affect how the color is perceived. For brand-critical projects, review a physical paint sample applied to your actual material and view it under the final lighting before approving production.

What should I plan for when applying PMS 1365 U over a large area?

PMS 1365 U is a bright, saturated color, which means uniform coverage matters. Plan for consistent surface preparation, even application technique, and full coat coverage across the entire area. Variations in film thickness can make the color appear patchy or uneven.

Applying multiple controlled coats and maintaining the same spray distance, overlap, and drying time helps keep the color visually consistent. Testing your process on a larger sample panel before production can prevent surprises.

What should I plan for to keep PMS 1365 U looking uniform over large painted areas?

PMS 1365 U is a bright, saturated Pantone color, which means uniform coverage is especially important on large surfaces. Plan for consistent surface preparation, even application technique, and sufficient dry time between coats.

Avoid spot application or uneven overlaps, which can create patchiness. For large brand-facing installations, applying full, continuous coats and allowing for additional passes if needed will help maintain a consistent visual appearance across the entire area.

Are there safety or VOC considerations when ordering PMS 1365 U paint?

Safety and VOC characteristics are determined by the specific paint product and format, not by the PMS 1365 U color itself. Different binders and systems will have different handling, ventilation, and curing requirements.

Always review the Safety Data Sheet for the exact product you order and follow the recommended application and safety guidelines. This is especially important for indoor brand installations or fast-turn marketing projects.

What safety or VOC expectations should I have when ordering PMS 1365 U paint?

Safety and VOC characteristics depend on the specific paint product you choose, not the Pantone color itself. PMS 1365 U only defines the color target.

Before use, review the Safety Data Sheet for the selected product and follow all handling, ventilation, and personal protection guidance. This is especially important for indoor applications or production environments with limited airflow.

What is the typical lead time for paint matched to PMS 1365 U?

Paint matched to PMS 1365 U is made to order. Production lead time depends on the paint type, format, and current production volume.

For time-sensitive brand or display projects, it is best to confirm lead time before ordering and allow extra time if you need samples for approval. Planning ahead helps avoid schedule risk when brand color accuracy is critical.

What is the typical production lead time for PMS 1365 U paint orders?

Paint matched to PMS 1365 U is made to order rather than pulled from stock. Production time depends on the paint type, order size, and current production volume.

Most standard orders require a short production window before shipping. If your project has a fixed deadline or coordinated brand rollout, it is best to place the order early and confirm timing before final scheduling.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 1365 U?

Can I use the Pantone PMS 1365 U for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
