Pantone™ PMS 112 U

PMS 112 U is a Pantone PMS reference, not a fixed paint formula. Each order is matched visually to the Pantone standard, so small variation can occur between batches.

To keep results consistent, reorder the same product type and sheen each time, and avoid switching formats mid project. If your project has formal brand approval, approve a physical sample and keep it as the reference target for future runs. Changing substrate, gloss, or application method can change how PMS 112 U appears even if the color match process is the same.

When PMS 112 U is applied across larger surfaces, uniform appearance depends more on application control than the color code itself.

Plan full, even coats and maintain consistent spray distance and overlap. Avoid stopping and restarting in visible areas, as this can create patchiness or banding. Highly saturated Pantone colors may need additional coats to achieve even hide, so allow proper flash time between coats and evaluate coverage under consistent lighting before considering the job complete.

Yes. The suffix in PMS 112 U is part of the Pantone reference and identifies the specific Pantone standard the color is matched to.

Brand guidelines may specify a particular PMS code and suffix, and using a different reference can lead to a noticeable visual difference. Before ordering, confirm that PMS 112 U is the exact code listed in your brand documentation rather than a similar number or alternate Pantone series.

When applying PMS 112 U to metal or over a powder-coated surface, preparation and surface condition strongly affect the final appearance.

Clean and scuff the surface so the new coating adheres evenly. Existing powder coat color and gloss level can influence how PMS 112 U reads once applied. Because of this, it is best to test the color on a prepared sample part before committing to a full run, especially for brand-facing or high-visibility components.

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.

We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
