PMS 7657 C is part of the Pantone Matching System (PMS) collection, widely used for brand specification and visual consistency across materials. This color is notably dark, with a low light reflectance value, and exhibits a muted yet bold violet-red character. The vibe is sophisticated, subdued, technical, and modern.

PMS 7657 C appears very dark in most lighting due to its low LRV of 5.93. The color leans cool due to its strong violet-red hue. It demonstrates moderate saturation, avoiding both overt brightness and dullness. The undertone is distinctly purple, grounded by muted red influences. Finish can influence depth; higher sheens may add vibrancy, while matte surfaces emphasize the color’s subdued nature.

PMS 7657 C works well for branded features that require a sophisticated, subtly distinctive accent. Users should evaluate this color in the intended lighting environment, as darkness and undertone may intensify under low or artificial light. Coverage can be challenging due to the depth and chroma of the color, so substrate prep and multiple coats may be necessary for uniform appearance. When compared to similar PMS violets and reds, PMS 7657 C stands out for its muted, cooler character rather than vividness or warmth.

Similar colors:
PMS 7655 C, which is lighter and slightly warmer, offering more visible purple-red vibrancy.

PMS 7659 C, which is deeper and cooler, shifting further toward a blue-violet character.

PMS 7421 C, which is more chromatic and saturated, presenting a brighter and more vivid red-purple tone.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 7657 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
