PMS 7647 C from the Pantone PMS system is a saturated, dark, cool magenta-red suited for delivering strong, assertive visual statements. This color presents a modern, purposeful, and distinct vibe while remaining professional and brand-forward.

- PMS 7647 C appears relatively dark, with a low light reflectance value (LRV) of 12.88.
- The color has a cool undertone, resulting from its magenta-red base and hue angle near the red-violet axis.
- PMS 7647 C is highly saturated, delivering vivid color presence and strong chromatic intensity.
- The color exhibits a pronounced magenta character, with a subtle blue cast in certain lighting.
- Perceived brightness and color depth may shift noticeably depending on finish and ambient lighting conditions.

- PMS 7647 C is frequently associated with brand identities seeking to convey energy, confidence, or innovation.
- The color is often referenced in the context of marketing materials, signage, and retail display elements where a distinctive, memorable hue is required.

PMS 7647 C is effective in environments where visual emphasis and defined brand presence are essential, such as signage, event installations, and display components. Due to its high chroma, coverage may require careful application, particularly over contrasting base coats; additional coats may be necessary for full opacity. Lighting type and surface gloss can materially alter the perceived richness and intensity, so it is advisable to evaluate samples under expected conditions. Compared to similar colors, PMS 7647 C will appear cooler and more assertive, especially next to warmer or less saturated reds.

Similar colors:

  • PMS 7426 C: Slightly darker and less saturated, resulting in a more muted magenta-red appearance.
  • PMS 7622 C: Warmer and redder, with less of a blue-mauve undertone.
  • PMS 221 C: Lighter and more vibrant, with increased brightness and slightly more pink influence.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 7647 C

What should I expect in terms of durability when using PMS 7647 C spray paint for branding or display applications?

Durability of PMS 7647 C spray paint strongly depends on the preparation of the surface, the environment where it is used, and any topcoats applied. For the best performance, make sure surfaces are clean, properly prepped, and primed as recommended for your material. If PMS 7647 C will be used in situations with frequent handling or environmental exposure, consider a compatible clear topcoat for added protection. Always select a paint type suited to your display or brand environment requirements. Test painted samples in the expected conditions before full production, as vivid colors like PMS 7647 C can show wear or fading more readily if not properly protected.

What should I know about using PMS 7647 C paint on metal or powder-coated parts?

When applying PMS 7647 C to metal or previously powder-coated parts, it is important to clean and scuff the surface to promote adhesion. Existing finishes, gloss levels, and base coat colors can noticeably affect the look of PMS 7647 C, especially since it is a highly saturated shade. The final appearance may be altered by surface texture or underlying color, so evaluate test samples under the actual lighting and application conditions before proceeding with production. This ensures the color meets your brand and visual expectations.

How can I get reliable approval when comparing PMS 7647 C color samples?

For reliable color approval of PMS 7647 C samples, use consistent lighting conditions and the same type of substrate for all comparisons. Ensure that all painted panels are fully dry or cured before making a final color decision, as wet or partially cured coatings can appear different. This approach helps avoid mismatches and allows you to confidently present PMS 7647 C as the intended brand color on your displays or prototypes.

What is the best way to apply PMS 7647 C spray paint for even and accurate coverage?

For PMS 7647 C, which is a dark, highly saturated color, apply several thin coats rather than a single heavy coat. Allow appropriate drying, or flash time, between each coat to reduce runs and achieve even coverage. This process helps prevent unevenness and improves the visual consistency of your finished display or branded surface. Test this approach on a sample piece to confirm coverage and appearance before scaling up your project.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 7647 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
