PMS 7645 C is part of the Pantone PMS (Pantone Matching System) collection, developed for standardized brand and design use. This color presents a grounded, professional, and understated character balanced by noticeable depth. Its appearance is often described as strong, reserved, and muted, well-suited for applications where a rich yet controlled presence is required.

PMS 7645 C appears quite dark, with a low light reflectance (LRV 3.74). The color tends toward a cool, almost neutral undertone, despite containing visible red and purple content. This color exhibits moderate chroma, producing a hue that is saturated enough for clear visual weight but not overtly vivid. Subtle, muted undertones are visible, displaying more grayness in indirect or low lighting. PMS 7645 C is relatively sensitive to gloss level; higher sheens may reveal more saturation and depth, while flat finishes can further mute the appearance.

PMS 7645 C is operationally effective where a dark, subtle accent is required for brand differentiation or controlled visual impact. It is best used in branding, environmental graphics, prototypes, or displays where faithful Pantone reproduction matters. Due to its darkness and moderate chroma, it will appear more muted in larger fields or under subdued lighting. Confirm final appearance using a physical Pantone reference and a real paint sample in the actual application conditions, as finish and lighting can significantly affect perceived hue and saturation. Surface prep is critical for uniformity, as dark, muted colors may show surface imperfections more readily than lighter shades. Compared to similar reds and purples in the PMS system, PMS 7645 C is notably less saturated and less overtly warm, providing a nuanced yet recognizable accent.

Similar colors:
PMS 7644 C: Slightly lighter and shows a bit more chromaticity, appearing less subdued than PMS 7645 C.

PMS 7646 C: Darker and exhibits a cooler, more muted effect with increased grayness.

PMS 209 C: Warmer and more saturated, delivering a clearer red than the subdued reddish-purple of PMS 7645 C.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 7645 C

What challenges might I face when matching Pantone PMS 7645 C, and how does MyPerfectColor address them?

Pantone PMS 7645 C is a deep, muted reddish-purple with subtle undertones and a low light reflectance value. Matching this color accurately can be affected by differences in materials, finishes, and lighting conditions. MyPerfectColor uses advanced color-matching processes, official Pantone standards, and experienced technicians to achieve faithful results for PMS 7645 C. Even so, it is important to review a physical sample in your final finish and environment before committing to large projects, as gloss and lighting can change the perceived appearance of this nuanced shade.

When is ordering a standard Pantone match for PMS 7645 C the right choice?

Ordering a standard Pantone match for PMS 7645 C is appropriate for most brand-facing display, signage, exhibit, or prototyping projects where your target is to match the official Pantone color standard. If your project calls for visual alignment with brand guidelines or you need consistent branded color across marketing installations, selecting a standard PMS 7645 C match ensures you are referencing the color as specified by Pantone. For these scenarios, the standard match will meet expectations if consistency is more important than substrate-specific or multi-material color adjustments.

Why might Pantone PMS 7645 C look different across various materials and how should I evaluate it?

Pantone PMS 7645 C can look different depending on the substrate due to variations in texture, absorption, and reflectivity. For example, the color can appear more muted on porous or matte surfaces and richer on smooth or glossy materials. If your project uses multiple substrates, it is best to review test samples of PMS 7645 C on each material under the lighting conditions found in your finished installation. This helps prevent surprises and ensures brand consistency throughout your application.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 7645 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
