PMS 7613 C, part of the Pantone Matching System collection, is a subdued orange-brown with a balanced, natural vibe suitable for applications where a warm but unassertive color is required. This color conveys practical, organic, approachable, and grounded characteristics, often supporting brand palettes that seek a connection to natural materials or toned-down warmth.

PMS 7613 C appears as a medium-dark shade, with a numeric LRV of 30.38.

The color exhibits a noticeable warm tendency, reflecting an orange-brown base.

This shade is muted in saturation, avoiding a vivid or aggressively chromatic look.

PMS 7613 C includes a subtle earthy undertone, giving it a slightly organic character rather than a purely clean or synthetic one.

The color’s appearance can shift noticeably depending on finish; gloss will heighten warmth and saturation, while matte or eggshell finishes will reinforce its muted, natural qualities.

PMS 7613 C works well where quiet warmth and subtle contrast are desired, such as in branded fixtures, displays, or retail settings referencing natural palettes. Surfaces painted with this color are best evaluated under the target lighting, as ambient conditions can either soften or exaggerate its earthy undertone. The color’s moderate lightness helps it avoid stark contrast, but when used adjacent to both lighter and deeper colors, its warmth can shift based on surrounding materials and finishes. Uniform surface priming and finish selection are important to prevent undesired color shifts or inconsistencies, especially in high-visibility brand applications.

Similar colors:

  • PMS 7514 C: Lighter and slightly less saturated, offering a paler and more neutralized take on a warm tan.
  • PMS 7562 C: Darker and richer, with a deeper, more pronounced brown undertone.
  • PMS 2311 C: Cooler and more muted, retaining earthy qualities with less warmth and more gray influence.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 7613 C

How is PMS 7613 C used during prototyping or concept model stages?

When you need your prototype or concept model to accurately reflect the intended brand color, PMS 7613 C provides a standardized visual reference. Using a Pantone PMS match ensures key decision-makers can review the color on actual materials before final approvals. Select a paint format compatible with your prototype substrate, such as spray paint for quick, uniform coverage, and be sure to review under intended lighting. Evaluating PMS 7613 C in context is essential for confirming that it aligns with your branding goals before moving into production.

When is it appropriate to order PMS 7613 C as a standard Pantone match?

Ordering PMS 7613 C as a standard Pantone match is appropriate for brand-facing signage, marketing displays, exhibit components, and prototypes where visual brand consistency is the main concern. This approach works best when your target is the Pantone reference itself rather than matching a specific batch of material or legacy finish. If the project goals prioritize consistency with the Pantone standard on a finished product or display, a standard match is the correct choice. For large, permanent, high-visibility installations, it is usually better to evaluate a sample in situ first.

What should I consider when comparing PMS 7613 C samples for approval?

When assessing samples of PMS 7613 C for approval, ensure that all samples are evaluated under the same type of lighting you expect in the final installation. Use the same substrate and finish as your intended application, since both surface and gloss level can affect how PMS 7613 C appears. Always wait until coatings are fully dry or cured before making final color judgments. Taking these steps helps prevent misinterpretation of the color and supports accurate brand presentation.

Do I need a primer when applying PMS 7613 C paint?

Whether a primer is needed before using PMS 7613 C depends on your substrate and the type of paint you select. Primers improve adhesion and can help ensure a uniform appearance, especially if the underlying material is porous, dark, or uneven. For high-profile branding installations or unfamiliar surfaces, using a primer is strongly recommended. Review primer guidance based on your substrate and paint format to achieve the best result.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 7613 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
