PMS 7600 C is a Pantone Matching System (PMS) standard color widely utilized in professional branding, marketing, and display fabrication applications. It exhibits a deep, earthy character with muted saturation and a distinctly warm undertone. The vibe of this color can be described as grounded, stable, subdued, and professional, supporting its use in contexts where a substantive visual anchor is required without high chromatic intensity.

PMS 7600 C presents as a notably dark color, with a low light reflectance value (LRV 9.39) indicating strong absorption and minimal reflectivity. The color expresses a warm tendency, leaning towards red and brown on the spectrum due to its hue characteristics. It is moderately saturated but intentionally muted, contributing to its earthy and reserved appearance. Undertones of PMS 7600 C are rooted in brick-red and clay, with subtle brown notes dominating over any overtly vibrant red or orange. The color is more sensitive to changes in lighting and finish, which can either enhance its warmth or amplify earthier, neutral qualities depending on surface sheen and ambient conditions.

PMS 7600 C performs well as a deep foundational shade for branding elements, fixtures, prototypes, or retail display components where a stable, warm presence is desired. Users should be aware that its dark and muted nature can make it appear even deeper in spaces with limited lighting or when applied in matte finishes. Placement under highly directional or cool lighting may mute its warmth further. When comparing to similar deep hues, PMS 7600 C stands out for its reserved chromatic presence—neither too vivid nor aggressively red—making it operationally useful where understated stability is needed without skewing neutral.

PMS 7622 C — Shares a deep character yet is slightly more chromatic and less muted, appearing with a stronger, bolder red impression.

PMS 491 C — Another earthy red-brown, but leans cooler with more brown and less red, creating a more subdued effect.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 7600 C

How do lighting and viewing conditions affect how PMS 7600 C looks in my brand environment?

PMS 7600 C, like all Pantone colors, can appear different depending on lighting and surroundings. Because PMS 7600 C is a dark, muted reddish-brown, it may look deeper and less warm under cool or low lighting compared to bright, warm light. For best results, evaluate your PMS 7600 C sample or painted surface under the actual lighting conditions where it will be installed. Lighting shifts can impact brand color consistency, so always check samples on the final substrate and in final lighting before approving for production.

Should I choose a matte or gloss finish for PMS 7600 C in brand and display use?

The finish you select for PMS 7600 C will affect how the color is perceived. A gloss finish can increase color punch and saturation, making PMS 7600 C appear slightly brighter but with more surface glare, especially under strong lighting. A matte finish will reduce glare, but may make this already deep, muted color look even darker. Consider where and how the brand element will be viewed: matte can help avoid reflections in close-range or directional lighting, while gloss can add vibrancy when viewed from a distance or under diffuse lighting.

What is the best way to compare PMS 7600 C paint samples for approval?

For consistent evaluation of PMS 7600 C samples, always compare samples on the same substrate and allow the paint to fully dry or cure before judgment. Use the lighting that will be present in the final installation space. Small differences in texture, sheen, or lighting may affect perceived color, especially with a muted shade like PMS 7600 C. Align panels side by side and avoid cross-comparisons under mixed light or with samples in different stages of drying.

What product formats are available for PMS 7600 C, and how should I choose?

PMS 7600 C can be ordered as custom spray paint, paint pens, or brush-in-cap bottles, among other options. Choose spray paint for larger branded surfaces or displays, paint pens for detailed logo or lettering work, and brush-in-cap bottles for small projects or prototype adjustments. Consider project size, required precision, and environmental needs when selecting the format. All are formulated to help achieve color-accurate, brand-consistent results for marketing and display use cases.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 7600 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
