Pantone® PMS 7578 C paint is a vivid and bold orange from the Pantone PMS collection. It is energetic, attention-grabbing, technical, modern, and impactful—especially valued for high visibility and brand consistency in marketing, exhibit, and fabricated display applications.

PMS 7578 C presents as a deep, saturated orange that is distinctly bold but not red. The color has a mid-to-low light reflectance value (LRV 25.94), which makes it moderately dark for an orange while still highly visible. This orange has a warm hue with no cool or neutral tones. The high saturation gives it strong chromatic presence, helping the color stand out in visual materials. Its undertone is clean, lacking brownish or golden notes. The finish can influence its appearance: gloss increases vibrancy, while a matte finish may reduce glare and slightly mute the color.

PMS 7578 C is suited when a visually assertive and unambiguous orange is required for brand-driven fabrication, marketing installations, signage, or prototype models needing precise Pantone specification. Designers should note that the high saturation may require multiple coats and careful surface priming for even coverage. The color is stable under most lighting but may appear deeper in low-light settings. It offers a stronger and warmer chromatic presence compared to other mid-tone oranges.

Similar colors:
PMS 158 C – Slightly lighter and more radiant, reads as a brighter, less deep orange.

PMS 7580 C – Darker and redder, moving toward a brick-toned orange.

PMS 2026 C – More vivid and intense, with a higher degree of saturation and slightly more yellow cast.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 7578 C

Can I use Pantone PMS 7578 C as a touch-up specification for existing painted surfaces?

Pantone PMS 7578 C is designed as a brand color communication standard, not as a specification for touching up existing finishes. Pantone references do not define sheen, film build, or substrate condition, which are critical for achieving an invisible repair or exact touch-up. This means ordering paint by Pantone PMS 7578 C is not recommended for touch-up or repair of pre-existing surfaces. For projects focused on brand consistency and new applications, PMS 7578 C is appropriate, but it should not be used as a proxy for touch-up where an exact finish match is required.

How can I find the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for paint matched to Pantone PMS 7578 C?

The Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for paint made in Pantone PMS 7578 C depends on the specific paint or coating type selected, not the color code. To obtain the correct SDS, visit the SDS library and reference the product format you plan to order, such as spray paint or urethane. The exact SDS will provide safety, handling, and regulatory details for that particular paint base in PMS 7578 C.

When is Pantone PMS 7578 C a suitable target for sign, display, or exhibit fabrication?

Pantone PMS 7578 C is commonly specified for signs, displays, and exhibit components when brand standards require precise and consistent color reproduction. It is appropriate for new fabrication, prototypes, marketing installations, and any environment where the PMS 7578 C standard provides visual consistency across elements. Because appearance can vary depending on substrate, finish, and lighting, sampling PMS 7578 C on the actual materials to be used is recommended before full production, especially for high-visibility applications.

Do I need a primer when using paint matched to Pantone PMS 7578 C?

The need for a primer when using paint matched to Pantone PMS 7578 C depends on your substrate, the chosen paint type, and the intended use. Primers may be needed for bare metal, plastic, wood, or surfaces where strong adhesion, corrosion resistance, or optimal coverage is required. Highly saturated colors like PMS 7578 C can require priming for uniform color and improved hide. Consult the guidance for your specific paint system to determine the best approach and ensure brand-accurate results.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 7578 C?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 7578 C depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. Most expedited production orders ship within 24 hours on business days. Please contact MyPerfectColor if you are concerned about a specific deadline. Can I use the Pantone PMS 7578 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

How do I convert PMS 7578 C to a different color from another paint company?

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 7578 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
