Pantone® PMS 2382 C. Paint And Spray Paint. MyPerfectColor is the official licensee of Pantone and authorized to reproduce the Pantone Matching System colors in spray paint and other paints.

PMS 2382 C is part of the Pantone Matching System, a global color communication standard widely used for brand specification and visual identity projects. The color presents as a mid-to-dark, robust violet with strong chroma and a cool, energetic vibe. Typical physical and visual qualities of this color include vibrancy, technical clarity, and noticeable depth. The tone is modern, impactful, and clearly cool-leaning, making it operationally valuable in applications where color presence and distinction are critical.

- PMS 2382 C is mid-to-dark in relative lightness, with an LRV of 23.13 indicating limited reflectance.

- The color shows a cool undertone, appearing distinctly violet and resisting any noticeable warmth.

- PMS 2382 C is highly saturated, producing bold visual impact.

- The undertone remains distinctly blue-violet, avoiding any red or magenta bias.

- This color is finish-sensitive; higher gloss can enhance its vibrancy, while matte finishes may reduce perceived depth and saturation.

PMS 2382 C is most effective in brand-driven environments where bold distinction and vividness are required, such as signage, exhibition components, and display units. When specifying this color, consider that highly saturated violets may require multiple coats for consistent coverage, especially over contrasting primers or substrates. Lighting can strongly affect the read of this cool violet—cool white or daylight sources will emphasize clarity, while warm light can reduce vibrancy. For projects demanding visual consistency, view physical paint samples under intended lighting to validate color results. Compared to other saturated violets, PMS 2382 C maintains a notably cool direction without sliding into blue or magenta territory.

Similar colors:

  • PMS 266 C: Slightly lighter and less saturated, with a softer violet appearance.
  • PMS 267 C: Slightly darker and more muted, offering a more subdued, deeper violet.
  • PMS 2096 C: More chromatic and vibrant, with a stronger blue influence and higher apparent brightness.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 2382 C

How do I confirm that Pantone PMS 2382 C is the correct code for my brand color application?

Always confirm that PMS 2382 C is the exact Pantone code specified in your brand guidelines or project documentation before ordering. Pantone PMS colors often include suffixes or series designations, such as 'C' for coated or 'U' for uncoated, which can impact both the color reference and the intended appearance. The correct suffix ensures the color outcome matches expectations across vendors and materials. Reviewing current brand standards helps avoid ordering a similar but incorrect color for your project.

What should I consider about coverage and undercoats when using Pantone PMS 2382 C paint or spray paint?

PMS 2382 C is a highly saturated violet, which may require multiple coats to achieve even coverage, especially over light or contrasting primers. Planning for an appropriate undercoat, such as a similar-toned or neutral primer, can improve uniformity and reduce the risk of uneven color. For best results on brand-driven displays or signage, test coverage on your actual substrate and lighting conditions to ensure the painted surface meets your visual expectations before full application.

Are there special challenges in matching Pantone PMS 2382 C, and how does MyPerfectColor address them?

Matching PMS 2382 C can be challenging because vivid, saturated violets are sensitive to substrate, finish, and lighting. Variations in material and application can affect how the color appears. MyPerfectColor is an official Pantone licensee and is experienced in reproducing challenging colors like PMS 2382 C for brand and display applications. However, evaluating physical samples under your intended lighting and on your actual substrate is always recommended when exact appearance is critical.

How do I choose the right type of paint for Pantone PMS 2382 C for interior or exterior projects?

Choose the paint type for PMS 2382 C based on where and how it will be used. For interior applications like signage and display units, standard interior paint or spray paint is usually sufficient. For exterior use or high-exposure environments, request an exterior-grade paint to ensure durability against weather and fading. Confirm your project needs before ordering, and review available paint formats for PMS 2382 C to align with both appearance and performance requirements. If you are not sure, share your project details to receive guidance on the most suitable paint type.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 2382 C?

Can I use the Pantone PMS 2382 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
