PMS 2273 C is a Pantone Matching System (PMS) standard color, used for brand-accurate specifications and consistent reproduction across varied materials and substrates. Visually, PMS 2273 C has a distinctly deep, cool green character, presenting a technical and assertive vibe that appears bold, modern, and controlled. It is best categorized as low-lightness, highly chromatic, and noticeably cool-leaning, with its strength often highlighted in controlled lighting and high-impact environments.

- PMS 2273 C appears dark due to its low light reflectance (LRV 12.57). - The color shows a distinctly cool undertone, owing to its hue orientation near blue-green. - PMS 2273 C exhibits high chroma, resulting in a strong and vivid green appearance. - The color’s saturation holds well across most gloss levels, but minor finish sensitivity may occur in matte applications, appearing slightly flatter. - This color is prone to variation under different lighting, especially shifting cooler or more muted under warm indoor illumination.

PMS 2273 C is specified in brand environment components where a deep, assertive green serves as a key identity color. It is often used for marketing displays, signage, and prototype fabrication requiring consistent brand reproduction.

PMS 2273 C works well when a strong, deep green is needed to define branded areas, signage, or product displays with high visual impact. Care should be taken to evaluate the color under final display lighting and on the actual substrate, as its low reflectance and high chroma can lead to perceived darkening or muted undertones in less than optimal conditions. Compared to other deep greens, PMS 2273 C maintains a cooler, bluer tone and stronger chromatic intensity, which may read differently than similar colors that trend warmer or less saturated.

Similar colors:
PMS 348 C – Slightly lighter and warmer; less chromatically intense.

PMS 3435 C – Darker and more muted; less cool than PMS 2273 C.

PMS 7727 C – Lighter and more vivid; reads with more blue influence.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 2273 C

How durable is PMS 2273 C spray paint for brand display projects?

The durability of PMS 2273 C spray paint depends on proper preparation, the chosen substrate, and environmental exposure. For best results, ensure surfaces are clean and primed as recommended for the material. Adding a compatible clear topcoat can increase protection against abrasion and weathering. For exterior displays or areas with heavy handling, consider higher-performance coatings for added resilience. Always choose paint type and finish based on the demands of your installation environment to achieve lasting, visually accurate brand results.

Can I use PMS 2273 C paint for both interior and exterior branded installations?

PMS 2273 C is available in paint types designed for either interior or exterior use. For indoor displays or brand environments, standard interior paint or spray formats are typically sufficient. For exterior signage or outdoor brand features, select a paint type specifically formulated for exterior exposure to maximize color longevity and resistance to weathering. Confirm your project requirements and select the right product format for the intended setting to ensure optimal performance.

Why is PMS 2273 C commonly specified for sign, display, or exhibit fabrication?

PMS 2273 C is a standardized Pantone color often required for fabricated components where brand color accuracy and consistency are critical. Using this Pantone code ensures that signs, displays, and exhibit elements align visually across different materials and production sources. It is important to sample the paint on the actual substrate and assess the color under real-world lighting before full production, as color perception and coverage can vary depending on substrate and lighting conditions.

What should I consider when applying PMS 2273 C paint to plastics or low-energy surfaces?

Plastics and low-energy surfaces present adhesion challenges for PMS 2273 C paint. Surface preparation and the correct selection of primer or adhesion promoter are often necessary. Since plastics can vary widely in composition, always test the paint system on the actual material before launching into production or final installations. Proper testing ensures both color appearance and performance standards are met for your branded project.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 2273 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

How do I convert PMS 2273 C to a different color from another paint company?

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 2273 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information.
