PMS 2243 C is a Pantone Matching System (PMS) color from the Pantone PMS collection. The color vibe is professional, saturated, technical, clean, and modern. This color appears as a deep teal with notable vibrancy. It is applied primarily to create brand distinction and strong visual impact in design, marketing, and display settings.

PMS 2243 C has a moderately dark appearance (LRV 22.9). The color tends towards cool, aligning more strongly with green-blue than with true blue or green. PMS 2243 C is highly saturated, contributing to its visual clarity and presence. The undertone is distinctly cool, with a pronounced green cast. Color perception may shift with changes in lighting and finish, particularly in gloss or matte environments.

PMS 2243 C serves well in applications demanding bold, unmistakable brand presence. Its cool, saturated qualities make it effective under bright lighting, but artificial or uneven lighting may accentuate the green-blue tones or deepen its appearance. Achieving even, opaque coverage with highly chromatic colors like this may require careful surface preparation and multiple coats, especially in lower-hide paint systems. Compared to other saturated teal colors, PMS 2243 C maintains strong vibrancy without drifting into either true green or blue, making it an effective choice where accurate color identity is critical.

Similar colors:
PMS 3262 C: Slightly lighter and less dark, with a stronger green undertone.

PMS 321 C: Darker, with a cooler and deeper blue emphasis.

PMS 7710 C: Less saturated, appearing softer and more muted in application.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 2243 C

How does changing the finish or sheen affect the appearance of Pantone PMS 2243 C?

The finish you choose for Pantone PMS 2243 C can noticeably change how the color is perceived, even when the color target is correct. For example, glossy versions of PMS 2243 C may appear brighter and more saturated, while matte finishes often look deeper and more muted. Comparing a gloss sample to a matte one can make it seem like they are different colors. When color accuracy is critical, always specify both the target color and the desired finish, and evaluate samples under consistent lighting conditions.

What is the difference between the Pantone PMS 2243 C color name and its code when ordering paint?

Pantone PMS 2243 C uses a standardized code where '2243' identifies the color and 'C' stands for 'Coated.' Always use the full code, including any suffix like 'C,' when ordering paint. Relying only on the color name or leaving off part of the code increases the risk of getting the wrong product. For brand and marketing applications, reference the complete Pantone PMS 2243 C code to ensure correct fulfillment.

How can I get help choosing the right paint type for Pantone PMS 2243 C for my project?

If you are unsure which paint type or product formulation to use for Pantone PMS 2243 C, contact MyPerfectColor with details about your substrate, environmental exposure, and finish requirements. Providing this information will help identify the best format, whether you need spray paint, paint pens, epoxy, or another option, to achieve accurate results for your intended application.

Where can I find the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for paint made in Pantone PMS 2243 C?

After selecting your product (such as spray paint, housepaint, or epoxy), you can find the relevant SDS in the SDS library on the MyPerfectColor website for that product type. If you need assistance locating the SDS, contact MyPerfectColor support with your order or product details.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 2243 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
